MIA TE Mike Gesicki - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Cleveland Browns

Mike Gesicki had a down game last week as he only finished with one catch for three yards on two targets. It's disappointing to see Gesicki only get three yards in a game where Tua Tagovailoa threw for over 300. It's also disappointing because this is now Gesicki's fourth game (out of nine) this season with just one catch. He's had a few good games, but Gesicki's low floor makes him a risky option each week. At this point he's essentially a touchdown dependent tight end. And scoring could be difficult to come by in Week 10 against a Browns defense that's allowed just one touchdown to tight ends this season.

MIA TE Mike Gesicki - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Chicago Bears

Despite some rumors throughout the season, Mike Gesicki stayed put in Miami through the trade deadline. He's coming off of a decent game where he finished 3-38-1 on four targets. Gesicki has been a little inconsistent this year, most notably with his two games below 10 yards, but has started to find a groove lately, averaging 3.0-37.4-0.6 over the last five weeks. That may not seem like much, but on the season, Gesicki is TE10 (half-PPR). That's essentially the range we have him in for Week 9 as he faces the Bears. If you're in need of a tight end this week with six teams on bye, and Gesicki is available, he'd be a great streaming option.

MIA TE Mike Gesicki - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Detroit Lions

Mike Gesicki saw seven targets last week, which only trailed Tyreek Hill on the team. Unfortunately he didn't do a whole lot, finishing 3-27. It's especially notable considering the huge game he had in Week 6. On the season, Gesicki is averaging 2.6 receptions for 28.1 yards with three total touchdowns. He hasn't been great, but it's also a pretty down year for tight ends overall. Gesicki does at least offer some upside, especially this week in a favorable matchup against the Lions who have given up the 5th-most average fantasy points to the position. Gesicki will be a low-end TE1 in Week 8. He'd be a solid streaming option for teams in need, say a Travis Kelce manager needing a bye week replacement.

MIA TE Mike Gesicki - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Mike Gesicki came out of nowhere last week to put up a stat line of 6-69-2 on seven targets, with every single one of those categories being season highs. It was a nice game for Gesicki, but let's not act like he's suddenly a TE1 now. Gesicki still has three games this season where he's caught just one pass. Having said that, he could be a decent streaming option this week with some notable tight ends (Higbee, Goedert, Knox) on bye. Don't expect a monster game from Gesicki, but he's not a bad choice if you're in need of a tight end for Week 7.

MIA TE Mike Gesicki - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Mike Gesicki's struggling season continued last week as he saw just two targets, finishing 1-30. It's the third game this season he's had just one reception. Gesicki's season-long stat line through five games is 9-101-1, which looks like a single game box score for someone like Travis Kelce. Gesicki is off the fantasy radar as he faces the Vikings in Week 6.

MIA TE Mike Gesicki - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at New York Jets

Mike Gesicki finished 2-23 on four targets last week. Through four games, Gesicki's total season receiving stat line is 8-71-1, which almost looks like Travis Kelce's weekly stat line. There was some optimism surrounding Gesicki heading into the year, but the production just has not been there. Gesicki should be viewed as a waiver wire player at this point.

MIA TE Mike Gesicki - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Cincinnati Bengals

Mike Gesicki had just one catch last week for six yards. It was also his only target of the game, giving him two games this season (out of three) with just one target. Through three games, Gesicki has just a 5.9% target share. He gets a good matchup this week against the Bengals, who have given up the fourth-most receiving yards to tight ends this year. But Gesicki's usage is a real cause for concern. We'd look elsewhere for your tight end needs in Week 4.

MIA TE Mike Gesicki - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Buffalo Bills

After a disappointing one-catch game in Week 1, Mike Gesicki bounced back with a solid game in Week 2, finishing 4-41-1 on four targets. It's a nice game, but it's not too encouraging to see Gesicki just get four targets of Tua Tagovailoa's 50 pass attempts. He'll get a tough matchup in Week 3 vs. the Bills. Buffalo only gave up three touchdowns to tight ends last season, and haven't given any up this year. Buffalo also allowed the fifth-fewest receiving yards to tight ends in 2021. With Gesicki's usage and a brutal matchup, we'd probably stay away from the Dolphins tight end in Week 3.

MIA TE Mike Gesicki - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Baltimore Ravens

Mike Gesicki saw just one target, finishing with one catch for one yard in Week 1. To make matters worse, he only played on 42% of the offensive snaps. Tight end Durham Smythe appears to be the lead tight end in this offense, playing on 63% of the snaps. Smythe also had two targets in the game. Gesicki was already trending downwards to start the year, so a 1-yard performance won't inspire much confidence in him moving forward. Until he starts producing, we'd stay away from Gesicki moving forward.

MIA TE Mike Gesicki - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. New England Patriots

Mike Gesicki was named in some trade rumors during roster cuts, but he ended up staying in Miami. He had some success last season, but he also became a primary target after several injuries to wide receivers. This year, Miami has some top-notch receiving threats in Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Chase Edmonds, making Gesicki a bit of a forgotten man. He'll also draw a tough matchup vs. the Patriots in Week 1. New England gave up the fewest average fantasy points to tight ends last year, and it showed in both of Gesicki's matchups. He finished with a goose egg in his first game and just 2-22 in his second. We'd recommend benching Gesicki in Week 1 unless you're extremely desperate.
