LA QB Jared Goff - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Tennessee Titans

Jared Goff completed 14-of-21 passes for 120 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception in the Rams' blowout win over the Seahawks in Week 15. The offense ran through Todd Gurley and the Rams dominated a depleted Seattle defense, so there wasn't much opportunity for Goff to have a big game. Still, the 2 touchdowns were more than enough for fantasy owners that used him as a streaming option last week.

Sean McVay is hell-bent on making Gurley the focal point of the offense and taking as much pressure off of his second-year quarterback as possible. That's smart, although it puts Goff owners in a bind. He ranks as our QB13 for Week 16 and thus, we would avoid using him this Sunday when the Rams travel to Nashville to take on the Titans. Philip Rivers, Case Keenum, Nick Foles and Blake Bortles are better options if you're looking for a QB this week.

LAR QB Jared Goff - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Seattle Seahawks

Jared Goff completed 16-of-26 passes for 199 yards, with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions in the Rams' 43-35 loss to the Eagles. Unfortunately for the Rams, Goff was stripped by former Ram Chris Long at his own 35-yard line with 8:26 remaining in the game. The Eagles recovered, scored, and never relinquished the lead. Goff had just 10 passing yards in the fourth quarter as he struggled to move the ball against the Eagles' stout defense. Goff is our No. 18 ranked QB for the week versus the Seahawks, so you might want to look elsewhere this week.

LA QB Jared Goff - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Jared Goff completed 21-of-31 passes for 220 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception in the Rams’ Week 13 victory over the Cardinals. Goff converted on a 4th-and-goal with a touchdown pass to Gerald Everett for his first score. An 11-yard screen pass to Sammy Watkins in the third quarter accounted for his other score. While Goff didn’t light up the scoreboard, he still provided a decent output for fantasy owners.

We’re beyond the point of questioning whether or not Goff is a weekly streaming option. He is, even in a tough matchup this Sunday versus the Eagles, who rank as fantasy’s No. 7 defense against quarterbacks. Ranked as our QB8, Goff should be good for 15-20 points this weekend.

LA QB Jared Goff - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Arizona Cardinals

Jared Goff completed 28-of-43 passes for 354 yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception in the Rams' Week 12 win over the Saints. The 354 yards were one yard shy of the career mark he posted against the Texans two weeks ago. Even down his best receiver in Robert Woods, Goff was excellent. He's still missing some throws, but that only speaks to his ceiling and his upside.

Ranked as our No. 8 QB for Week 13 when the Rams visit the Cardinals (16th against fantasy quarterbacks this season), feel free to use Goff as a streaming option on Sunday.

LA QB Jared Goff - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. New Orleans Saints

Jared Goff completed 23-of-37 passes for 225 yards in the Rams' Week 11 loss to the Vikings. As expected, Goff struggled against Mike Zimmer's excellent defense. He was constantly under siege and throwing into tighter windows. Todd Gurley was bottled up, so the Rams struggled to move the ball outside of their opening drive when they made it 7-0 early.

Goff won't have it much easier on Sunday when the Rams host a Saints team ranked eighth against fantasy quarterbacks this season. If you're desperate, Goff is a low-end QB1 in deeper leagues but New Orleans has done a great job getting to the quarterback this season so he's a risky play. Goff ranks as our No. 14 QB for Week 12.

LA QB Jared Goff - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Minnesota Vikings

Jared Goff fleeced the Texans for 355 yards and 3 touchdowns on 25-of-37 passing in the Rams' Week 10 victory. Any owner who gambled on starting Goff was no doubt kicking themselves at halftime. But Goff hit Robert Woods in stride on a 94-yard touchdown in the third quarter and the floodgates opened. He also found Sammy Watkins on back-to-back plays for 41 yards and a touchdown, then hit Woods again on a 12-yard strike for his third touchdown of the day.

The question now becomes is Goff a legitimate QB1? The answer still depends on the matchup, although it's getting more difficult by the week to leave him on your bench or waiver wire. He has thrown for over 300 yards in back-to-back games, with 7 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He's been incredible.

Goff does draw a tough matchup on Sunday when the Saints travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings. Ranked as our No. 11 QB, Goff is still a low-end QB1 despite the matchup.

LAR QB Jared Goff - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Houston Texans

Jared Goff completed 14-of-22 passes for 311 yards with 4 touchdowns in the Rams' Week 9 rout of the Giants. Goff was untouched, literally, as he shredded a New York defense that took the afternoon off. Goff and the Rams even converted on a 3rd-and-33 opportunity, as Robert Woods took a receiver screen 52 yards for a touchdown in the first half. Goff also threw another short red zone pass to Woods, plus a 67-yard bomb to Sammy Watkins, who easily got behind the Giants defense.

We've been cautious not to come to this conclusion but there's no denying it: Goff is officially a fantasy quarterback. He's not completely matchup-proof because, before Sunday's outburst, touchdowns were an issue for Goff. That said, owners can feel confident that if they have to use Goff as a streaming option he will deliver.

The Rams host the banged-up Texans, who rank as fantasy's No. 27 defense versus quarterbacks. Ranked as our No. 7 QB for Week 10, view Goff as a solid QB1 option for Sunday.

LA QB Jared Goff - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at New York Giants

Jared Goff completed 22-of-37 passes for 235 yards, with 1 touchdown, and 1 interception in the Rams' Week 7 win over the Cardinals. He also added a rushing touchdown on a nine-yard QB keeper on a read-option play.

While his accuracy was off at times versus Arizona, Goff continues to thrive under the direction of new coach Sean McVay. Lost under former coach Jeff Fisher and his mundane tactics on offense, Goff is now a competent signal-caller thanks in large part to McVay.

While Goff isn't an every-week fantasy play, he is a streaming option for owners dealing with byes in Week 9. Ranked as our No. 14 QB for the Rams' matchup with the Giants, Goff should be able to get you 15+ points this weekend. New York ranks 19th against fantasy quarterbacks and will be without cornerback Janoris Jenkins (suspension).

LA QB Jared Goff - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Cardinals (game in London)

Jared Goff completed 11-of-21 passes for 124 yards, with 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions in the Rams’ Week 6 win over the Jaguars. Goff left some fantasy points on the field when he missed on what would have been a 50+ yard touchdown pass to Sammy Watkins. While Goff is light years ahead of where he was a year ago as a rookie, he struggled in his last two starts (albeit against Seattle and Jacksonville).

Looking ahead to Week 7, Goff has a nice matchup versus a Cardinals team that ranks as fantasy’s No. 25 defense against quarterbacks. Ranked as our QB14 for Week 7, Goff is a streaming option for desperate owners in deeper leagues. He has a low ceiling but a high floor.

LA QB Jared Goff - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Jacksonville Jaguars

Jared Goff completed 22-of-47 passes for 288 yards with 0 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in the Rams’ Week 5 loss to the Seahawks. Goff also lost a fumble in a rough performance overall, although he did lead the Rams deep into Seattle territory with under a minute left to play. Had Cooper Kupp not had a pass go off his hands on a diving attempt in the end zone, the Rams probably win the game despite turning the ball over 5 times.

Goff has looked like a different quarterback under Sean McVay’s guidance, but he’s still not on the fantasy radar. He’s averaging just 13.2 points per game and has a tough matchup on Sunday against a Jacksonville team that intercepted Ben Roethlisberger 5 times last week in Pittsburgh. Ranked as our No. 23 quarterback in Week 6, avoid Goff on Sunday against the No. 1 fantasy defense in the league.
