Week 6 vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Baker Mayfield had a solid outing last week, throwing for a career high 342 yards. He unfortunately only came away with one score, while finishing with a turnover. But, the fact he had mostly big numbers against a good defense is promising.
This week he gets an easier task against the Chargers, who have allowed 11 touchdowns to QBs this season. He won't be an elite option against L.A., but Mayfield is sitting just outside QB1 territory in the mid-range region.
Week 5 vs. Baltimore Ravens
Baker Mayfield looked decent in his NFL debut. He finished with 295 yards and two touchdowns in an overtime game, which is good. But he also looked like a rookie at moments as he finished with four turnovers. He also barely completed 50% of his passes, so he'll need to work on that moving forward.
He'll likely have more trouble in Week 5, though, as he gets a tough matchup against the Ravens. Baltimore has allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs, the fourth-fewest passing yards per game (193) and the lowest completion percentage (53.8).
On paper, there's no real reason to like Mayfield this week. He should be viewed as a poor option.
Week 4 at Oakland Raiders
Well it happened sooner than we expected, but Baker Mayfield is officially the Browns' starting QB. Mayfield looked good in limited action last week, throwing for 201 yards while completing 17-of-23 passes. He's still looking for a TD, but he did catch a two-point conversion.
He gets a good matchup in his first career start vs. the Raiders. Oakland hasn't done much to lock QBs down so far this season, so Mayfield should have some decent opportunities. He carries some risk as it's his first real game, but we still like him as a very low-end QB1 option.
