Scouting report

PHI WR DeVonta Smith - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Las Vegas
After two strong weeks, DeVonta Smith took a slight step back last game. He was held to two catches for 31 yards. Smith is still the No. 1 target in the passing game, but the Eagles had an overall bad day on offense. This should just be a fluke.

Smith will face a Raiders defense that is ranked 8th in aFPA to wide receivers. We expect him to get some attention from the Las Vegas secondary, but the numbers should be much better than last week.

Start Smith as a low-end WR2 for Week 7. If he gets seven or more targets, his ranking will be even higher but we still think he will be helpful in all leagues and formats.

PHI WR DeVonta Smith - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Tampa Bay
DeVonta Smith continues to be the most targeted player in the Eagles offense. He is averaging just under eight per game. Last week, he was targeted eight times for seven receptions and 77 yards. Smith hasn't reached the end zone since Week 1.

The Eagles will play Thursday night and Smith has a great matchup against Tampa Bay who is ranked dead last in aFPA to wide receivers. This could be a breakout night for him on national TV.

Start Smith as a WR2 for Week 6. We expect similar targets and some big plays. He could move closer to a WR1 if he would start scoring touchdowns but it hasn't happened lately.

PHI WR DeVonta Smith - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Carolina
Devonta Smith had his best game as a pro. He was targeted 10 times for seven receptions for 122 touchdowns. He did not get in the end zone and only has the one touchdown from Week 1. His stock is rising as the Eagles are looking pass-happy. But we still want to see more.

Smith faces the Panthers who are 12th in aFPA to wide receivers. Carolina is very good against the run so we expect Smith to be involved in the passing game a lot on Sunday.

Start Smith as a WR3 or Flex. We want to see more numbers like last week, but he is definitely on his way to making a big impact in fantasy.

PHI WR DeVonta Smith - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Kansas City
After a strong debut, DeVonta Smith has not been as impactful in the last two games. The rookie had three receptions for 28 yards last week and just wasn't getting into space where he is very dangerous.

The matchup is great this week against Kansas City who is ranked 31st in aFPA to wide receivers. Smith and the Eagles have to figure this out and until they do, we favor keeping Smith on the bench for Week 4. He is still fantasy-relevant, but not quite consistent enough through the early season.

PHI WR DeVonta Smith - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Dallas
DeVonta Smith's targets have been consistent through the first two weeks with seven and eight. However, his fantasy production took a step back last week with only two receptions for 16 yards. The Eagles rookie is already seeing special attention from opposing defenses so it will be up to the Philly coaches to find ways to get him the ball in better situations.

Smith faces the Cowboys who were ranked dead last in aFPA to wide receivers in 2020. He should have more success this week as long as he gets those 7-8 targets. Start Smith as a low-end WR3 or Flex. We will eventually see big games from him and this could be the start of it.

PHI WR DeVonta Smith - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. San Francisco
We had a feeling DeVonta Smith would immediately become the Eagles' No. 1 receiver and Week 1 proved that. He was targeted a team-high 8 times and caught six passes for 71 yards and his first NFL touchdown. What's noticeable is the targets were more than either tight end which the Eagles have been reliant on over the past several seasons.

Smith will have a tougher matchup against a very good San Francisco defense. We expect the numbers he put up last week to be the norm for him. What we don't expect this week is a breakout performance fantasy-wise.

Start Smith as a WR3 or Flex for Week 2. His numbers should be good enough to aid your fantasy team in that role.

PHI WR DeVonta Smith - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Atlanta
After last year's first-round pick Jalen Reagor didn't make enough plays in the Eagles' offense, the Birds went out and got DeVonta Smith. Smith goes right to the top of the Philly receiver fantasy rankings as most expect his dynamic skills will carry over to the NFL.

Smith will have a very favorable matchup in Week 1 against the Falcons who had problems stopping the pass in 2020. Although the Eagles will still lean heavily on the tight ends in the passing game, we expect Smith to make 4-5 catches for 60+ yards. Expect him to be more efficient in PPR leagues with underneath routes.

Start Smith as a WR3 or Flex against Atlanta. He will have a key role all season and could be elevated higher as the season moves on.
