The quick turnaround is a concern in determining whether Patterson should play or not. The Falcons are big underdogs and have nothing to play for. If Patterson is out, Wayne Gallman and whatever is left of Mike Davis will see carries.
With Patterson possibly out in Week 11 against the Patriots on Thursday night, one can conclude from this maybe Davis is poised for a heavy workload. Any Falcon will be a be a risky fantasy start in a tough matchup against the Pats on a short week, though. Gallman carried 15 times for 55 yards, but those counting on Gallman for a significant workload may want to reconsider. Davis carried four times for 18 yards.
Falcons running back Cordarrelle Patterson remained limited in Tuesday’s practice leading up to Thursday night’s game against the Patriots. He also was limited Monday in the team’s estimated practice report.
Patterson played only 15 offensive snaps and five special teams snaps Sunday against the Cowboys after spraining his ankle.
On Monday, we reported Patterson was expected to miss time (a week or two) with the ankle injury, but perhaps especially this week on a short week. Continue to monitor Patterson's status, but it could be Gallman and Davis splitting reps on TNF vs. the Patriots this week.
Patterson played only 15 offensive snaps and five special teams snaps Sunday against the Cowboys. Patterson, 30, has been one of the Falcons’ top weapons with 116 touches for 776 yards and seven touchdowns this season. With Patterson missing time, any of Davis, Gallman or Ollison could eat up those touches. It may take some time to figure out the Falcons backfield with Patterson out of the lineup.
