It sounds like QB Jimmy Garoppolo is expecting to miss a couple of weeks with a calf injury.

Garoppolo and the 49ers explained the injury as feeling like someone stepped on the back of his calf. These injuries can linger, as Rapoport said. Rapoport added Jimmy G isn't always the same player when battling injuries in his career. So for now, it's Garoppolo to the bench and Lance will start. Of course reports over the last couple of days said the 49ers weren't prepared for Lance to play after taking over for Garoppolo during the second half of Week 4. The good news the staff should have him more prepared heading into Week 5. The Niners play the Cards in Week 5 and have a bye in Week 6.

49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo has a calf injury and is questionable to return to Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.

Fantasy Impact:

Trey Lance came out to start the second half for San Francisco. Garoppolo went 14/23 for 165 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the first half. The teams were tied, 7-7, at the half.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Friday that rookie QB Trey Lance should be active Week 1 at the Detroit Lions. Lance has been recovering from surgery to repair a chip in his finger.
