Scouting report

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

When on the field, T.J. Hockenson has been one of the better fantasy tight ends. Through Week 15, Hockenson was the No. 2 fantasy tight end before tearing his ACL. He was also TE2 in 2022. Hockenson caught 95 passes for 960 yards and five touchdowns before the Week 16 injury. Hockenson will be productive when healthy.

Fantasy Downside

Health is the big question going into the season for Hockenson. He tore his ACL in Week 16, which immediately put his Week 1 status into question. Hockenson is currently on the physically unable-to-perform list and is questionable for Week 1. He could also miss more time after and will likely be eased back into action when he does return.

2024 Bottom Line

Hockenson is an effective tight end when he's on the field. But when that will be again is anyone's guess. He's still worth a late-round draft pick if you're willing to ride out the injury and gamble he can still be a TE1 this season. We also don't know who will be throwing him the ball throughout the season, though it does seem to be leaning towards Sam Darnold for now.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Detroit Lions

T.J. Hockenson is on a streak of 10 games with at least 50 receiving yards. It might not sound like much, but given the tight end landscape, that puts him in the stratosphere of the position. He hasn't had a true blowup game in about a month, though.

We find him, once again, ranked as a top three tight end on the week. He's a must start for your semi-finals.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Cincinnati Bengals

T.J. Hockenson is near the top of our tight end rankings once again this week. He's only trailing Travis Kelce at the position.

He's turned his 21 targets into 14 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown over the past three weeks. Hockenson hasn't put up a gawdy stat line in a few weeks, now, but there aren't many tight ends that are. If Nick Mullens leans on him in his first start, we could be looking at a double-digit target day.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Las Vegas Raiders

In a game where his team only put up 10 points, TJ Hockenson continued to show his value. He still managed five catches for 50 yards and a score on a half-dozen targets.

He's averaging 10 targets per game over the last month and there's no reason to think he won't continue to be featured in the offense even with Justin Jefferson's return. We have him as the TE4 this week.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Chicago Bears

T.J. Hockenson is the TE2 once again in Week 12. He saw a dip in targets last week but still saw seven looks. He turned that into four catches for 55 yards. Hockenson has had 7+ targets in every game but one this season and will continue to be a must-start as long as he suits up.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Denver Broncos

T.J. Hockenson torched the Saints last weekend gaining over 130 yards on 11 receptions. His 15 targets were the highest total he's seen this year. Hockenson found the end zone for just the fourth time this year.

He's the TE2 once again this week, only trailing Travis Kelce in the rankings. Hockenson should be a staple in your lineup as long as he's playing.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. New Orleans Saints

T.J. Hockenson comes in as the TE3 again this week. He was limited on Wednesday with a rib injury but doesn't appear like he's in much danger of missing the game this weekend.

Hockenson has seen 33 targets in the past three weeks. Hockenson has had at least six receptions for 60 yards in all three contests. Given the TE landscape, that's pretty substantial production. Hockenson is an every week starter so long as he's active.
