Scouting report

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Green Bay Packers

T.J. Hockenson is coming off of an 11 reception game, his highest total of the year and second-highest of his career. He "only" turned that into 86 yards, though, on 12 targets and failed to find the end zone.

He comes into Week 8 as our TE3. Most tight ends can only dream of that workload. Hockenson is a locked and loaded TE1 as long as he's healthy. If he has a big day, it'll be the first double-digit performance that Green Bay has let up all year.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. San Francisco 49ers

Outside of the Carolina game, T.J. Hockenson has seen at least eight targets in each game. Unfortunately, all of that volume hasn't led to an avalanche of production. Hockenson has only found the end zone in one contest this year.

The nature of the tight end position is such that he's one of the elite tier options. But, it isn't the same level of production that we've come to expect from the position. At TE4, we're plugging him into our lineups.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Chicago Bears

T.J. Hockenson had another eight-target week against the Chiefs last week. He put up five receptions for 51 yards and failed to find the end zone.

The Bears have looked fine against tight ends on the surface. But, when you dig a little deeper, they haven't faced many teams that feature the tight end. The two teams (Washington and Kansas City) that gave a 20%+ target share to the tight end saw plenty of production. Hockenson is our TE4 and an easy start this week.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs Kansas City Chiefs

TJ Hockenson only saw three targets last week in Carolina. He hadn't seen less than eight targets in a game prior to that to start the year.

He'll look to get back to his productive ways in Week 5 against a KC defense that hasn't allowed much to the tight end position so far. Only Evan Engram has exceed 10 PPR Points against the Chiefs in 2023. Hockenson is still locked and loaded as a high-end TE1, and should be in your lineup this weekend.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Carolina Panthers

TJ Hockenson is projected as our TE2 this week. The Panthers look halfway decent against the tight end position but they haven't faced off against anyone at the position that has a pulse and a serviceable quarterback.

Hockenson has seen at least eight targets in each game this year. Given the state of the tight end position this year, that's a gold mine. Hockenson will continue to be a top-tier, must-start tight end until further notice.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

T.J. Hockenson is our TE2 on the week. They seemed to have figured something out last week as he put together a two touchdown day on the back of seven catches and 66 yards.

The Vikings let Hockenson's routes develop a bit more and took deeper shots to him. That was the sixth-most air yards that he's seen in his time with the Vikings. He should see plenty of targets once again this weekend and is a must-start.

MIN TE T.J. Hockenson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Philadelphia Eagles

T.J. Hockenson put up an interesting stat line in Week 1. He caught eight balls on nine targets but only managed to account for 35 yards. During his time in Detroit, he averaged 10.5 yards per reception in his full seasons there. In Minnesota last year, he averaged 8.7 and then opened 2023 with a 4.4 yards per reception performance.

As a manager with Hockenson on your team, you're hoping that trend reverses here soon. The linebacker corps in Philadelphia is missing Nakobe Dean, which should open up some opportunities for Hockenson. We have him projected as the TE2 and he's a must-start in all formats.
