Bills QB Kevin Kolb has an impressive description of Robert Woods as a receiver.

“Stud. I mean, legitimately a stud,” said Kolb. “I’ve bragged on him a lot in the last two days and really through camp. I mean, what I see from him, I’ve been with some really good rookie receivers. I mean some really good ones."

Woods has made a handful of plays in the first two practices and his knowledge of the game at his position looks to be well beyond his status of an NFL rookie. To have Kolb mentioning Woods in the same breath as DeSean Jackson is saying an awful lot about what he believes Woods is capable of as a rookie.

The Bills receiving corps has openings behind Stevie Johnson, and the versatile Robert Woods is right in the mix.

“I wouldn’t say I have a distinct style,” said Woods. “I can be a possession receiver because I can catch the quick passes and pick up the first down, but I can also make a guy miss and go the distance. So I would say I’m probably more of a complete receiver because I can do it all. I can play inside or outside.”

In offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett’s versatile offense, Woods will have a great opportunity to contribute immediately from multiple spots.

Bills second-year receiver T.J. Graham has been taking advantage of the extra reps he’s received in the practice setting in both the voluntary veteran minicamp last month and the current OTA sessions. With Steve Johnson still sidelined by a strained back and rookies Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin not able to participate until their college graduation dates (league rule), Graham has been a frequent target of Bills quarterbacks.

“I did a lot of preparation in the offseason so I’ve got to pick up where I left off,” Graham told Buffalobills.com.

The interesting thing to note here is that Johnson is dealing with a back issue. He is often nicked up, but always seems to play through the pain. Graham has a chance for a breakout season, but will have to fend off Woods and Goodwin (and Da'Rick Rodgers) for snaps.

There are rather lofty expectations for Bills WR Robert Woods, who at one time in the pre-draft process was thought to be a first-round pick. The Bills have said publicly how NFL ready Woods is, which leads some to believe he factors firmly in to the conversation to be the starter opposite Stevie Johnson.

Woods stood out in his first day of work with his overall polish and route-running.
