Andre Brown should see sizable role on return

Andre Brown is eligible to return to action when the New York Giants host the Oakland Raiders on Nov. 10, and running backs coach Jerald Ingram believes Brown will play.

"Andre is definitely going to fit in," Ingram said. "We had plans for him before he got hurt. He's very athletic. He catches the ball well out of the backfield and he runs the ball well and he's got good speed. He's that multipurpose back that can do a lot of things in first, second down and third down."

Fantasy Impact: 

Brown has the most upside of any of the Giants RBs, but Peyton Hillis is playing pretty well and Brandon Jacobs had a nice game against the Bears before injuring his hamstring, so the G-Men may rotate their RBs the rest of the way.

It’s unknown how the Giants will reintegrate RB Andre Brown.

HC Tom Coughlin said he is “going to have to wait and see” when asked when Brown might return.

The Giants relied on free agent signee Peyton Hillis the last two weeks, and veteran Brandon Jacobs, who broke out for two TDs in Chicago three weeks ago, seems ready to return from a hamstring injury.

Jacobs admitted he doesn’t know “how it’ll work out,” or if he’ll even have a roster spot when Brown gets back.

Fantasy Impact: 

Brown said he'll be back for Week 10. It's possible David Wilson could return Week 10 as well, so there is a lot of uncertainly surrounding the Giants backfield. However, there has been nothing new concerning Wilson and his neck injury.

Giants RB Andre Brown says he feels "great," is, "ready to go," and expects to play in two weeks against the Raiders.

Fantasy Impact: 

The Giants have a bye in Week 9. David Wilson has a chance to return Week 10 as well. It all adds up to a pretty crowded backfield if you factor in Peyton Hillis, Brandon Jacobs and Michael Cox who have carried the load while Wilson and Brown have been out.

Less than a week after getting picked up off the scrap heap, Giants running back Peyton Hillis was thrust into the spotlight on Monday night in front of a national television audience for his Roy Hobbs moment, and managed to give the Giants as much as they could ask for from a guy who came close to accepting that his career was over.

Now the former Madden cover guy is in line for another heavy load Sunday in Philadelphia as Brandon Jacobs missed practice again Friday with a hamstring injury and is doubtful to play against the Eagles, leaving Hillis and seventh-round rookie Michael Cox, who also saw his first action of the season Monday, as the only healthy tailbacks.

Fantasy Impact: 

Hillis is expected to carry the load again against an Eagles defense that is showing signs of improvement. Still, he's not a bad play if you're in a bind as the matchup is considered favorable. We have him ranked 27th among our backs which is the low-end RB3 or flex range.
