Eagles WR Nelson Agholor still expected to start

Eagles HC Doug Pederson said Jordan Matthews and Nelson Agholor are the two starting outside WRs entering spring. “Yes, that’s how it looks right now."

Fantasy Impact:

Agholor was a major fantasy disappointment in his rookie season, but it sounds as if the team hasn't given up on the possibility that he'll develop into a productive starter. He's currently going in the 10th round of early fantasy drafts.

With 12 games gone in his first pro season, Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor has caught just 16 passes for 163 yards and zero touchdowns. For a guy who was supposed to come in and replace Jeremy Maclin (however unfair that was), those numbers are pretty disappointing.

Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, though, thinks the stats are on their way.

“He wants to compete and he wants to do well and he wants to contribute in a positive way,” Shurmur said this week. “He trains that way. And I think if he just keeps working, the production or what everybody might see on a stat sheet will come his way.”

Fantasy Impact:

Shurmur pointed toward Agholor’s high ankle sprain as a possible reason for the lack of production. Agholor hurt his ankle against the Saints and missed three full games before returning. At this point, Agholor can't be trusted to make the turnaround during the fantasy playoffs.
