TB WR Julio Jones - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Julio Jones returned to action in Week 4, but he didn't see much playing time. Jones played on just 28% of the offensive snaps after seeing 52% in Week 1. He also didn't see the ball much, getting just two targets while finishing with one catch for seven yards. It's unclear if Jones is on a snap count because of his injury, or if he just isn't going to be that involved with this offense while Chris Godwin is healthy. He gets a Revenge Game this week against the Falcons, but his usage in Week 4 should have fantasy owners concerned. We'd shy away from playing Jones in Week 5.

TB WR Julio Jones - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Julio Jones was inactive again in Week 3 as he's now missed two straight games. On Monday, Bucs coach Todd Bowles says he expects Jones to suit up for Week 4 vs. the Chiefs. He's been limited in practice so far, so he's trending towards playing. But Jones is reportedly dealing with a partially torn PCL, so even if he's active he could be limited or on a snap count. He's a risky bet if he does play. He should be viewed as WR4/flex play in Week 4.

TB WR Julio Jones - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Green Bay Packers

Julio Jones was inactive in Week 2 with a knee injury, and he was held out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Tampa Bay desperately needs him with Mike Evans suspended and Chris Godwin unlikely to play. If he is active, he'd be in a great spot as the clear No. 1 option, although he could be limited due to his injury. It's also not a great matchup against Jaire Alexander and the Packers. If Jones is able to play, he should be viewed as a WR3.

TB WR Julio Jones - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at New Orleans Saints

Julio Jones had a solid role for the Bucs in Week 1. He finished 3-69 on five targets, and added 17 yards on two carries. The veteran played a strong 52% of the offensive snaps as well. Jones' usage could have been upped following the injury to Chris Godwin. With Godwin likely out for Week 2, we'd expect a similar formula heading into the matchup vs. the Saints. Mike Evans typically struggles against the Saints, which bodes well for other receivers. Last season in the first matchup vs. New Orleans, Chris Godwin finished 8-140-1. With Godwin out, Jones will likely pick some of that up. Jones should be viewed as a lower-end WR2 or strong WR3 play vs. the Saints. Jones' health should be monitored as well as he's been held out of practice with a knee injury.

TB WR Julio Jones - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Dallas Cowboys

Julio Jones is in a unique situation in Tampa Bay. His name carries a lot of weight based on his past production, but he's also coming off a disappointing season with the Titans. To add on, he's in a crowded WR room that features Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Russell Gage. But he could end up being a solid start in Week 1 if Godwin (knee) is unable to go. It'll be in a favorable matchup vs. the Cowboys, a team Tom Brady had nearly 400 yards against a year ago. Jones carries some risk since his role isn't clearly defined, but he should still be viewed as a lower-end WR3 play this week.

TEN WR Julio Jones - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Pittsburgh Steelers
Julio Jones returned from IR to a disappointing 4-33-0 line on six targets in a soft matchup against the Jaguars. Jones simply has not been able to get on the same page with Ryan Tannehill this season given the constant injury issues he's dealt with since training camp. Jones's fantasy value hinges on his position as the unquestioned top option in the Tennessee passing game with A.J. Brown sidelined, but whether it has been Brown or Jones in that role, it has produced inconsistently throughout the year. The Steelers do not present an overly concerning matchup for Jones this week, but his play of late is not inspiring for fantasy managers. Jones is a WR3/4 and borderline flex play until he shows some signs of life and chemistry with Tannehill.

TEN WR Julio Jones - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Julio Jones looks poised for a possible return in Week 14 after going on IR following a hamstring injury suffered in Week 9. Should Jones return, he would immediately assume a dominant target share in an offense devoid of playmakers with A.J. Brown on IR with his own injury issue. Monitor the practice reports out of Tennessee this week to assure Jones is good to go, but if he's active, he's worth serious consideration as a fantasy starter given his projected role despite the disappointing season and persistent injury problems.
