Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette expects Steelers running backs Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer to get “plenty of use” in Week 1.

“Dwyer is pushing Isaac Redman to start while Rashard Mendenhall mends over the next month. Redman, bothered by hip and ankle injuries this summer, did not play Thursday and compiled 38 yards rushing on 17 carries in preseason games.

It might not matter who starts because both will get plenty of use.”

Steelers RB Jonathan Dwyer, who may be pushing injured Isaac Redman to start at halfback in the opening game in Denver, had 63 yards rushing on 13 carries, all in the first half.

Fantasy Impact:

Dwyer is becoming an interesting late round pick due to Redman's injury, but Rashard Mendenhall will likely return in October, so Dwyer's value may be short-term. He looks like a flex play for the first few weeks in 12 team formats.

Steeler RB Jonathan Dwyer looks as if he's developing into something special at running back.

He did not show it so much running the ball in Buffalo, but he did catching them. He had three receptions for 48 yards including his big 33-yarder along the left sideline on third down from the 3 that kick-started the 98-yard drive.
