Scouting report

BUF TE Dalton Kincaid - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
With Dawson Knox off the field last season, Dalton Kincaid averaged 10.7 half-PPR points per game, a mark that would have ranked him top-5 among the position if extrapolated over the entire season. In the four weeks between Week 17 and the Divisional Round of the playoffs, the rookie averaged 6.5 targets, 4.8 receptions, and 69 yards per game. That 20.2% target share was the second-highest on the team over that pivotal stretch. It trailed only Stefon Diggs, who is no longer on the team.

Fantasy Downside
With Dawson Knox —who is returning for 2024— on the field, Kincaid averaged 2.5 fewer targets and over 20 fewer yards than with his teammate sidelined. During his rookie season, he had stretches of lowly results, including the first five games of the season when he failed to top 43 yards receiving and a similar stretch between Weeks 12-16 when he never topped 40.

2024 Bottom Line
The splits with Knox on and off the field seem pretty damning for Kincaid's outlook in 2024, but the overall target competition is far weaker. He is in line for a good amount of touchdown regression after scoring only two of his expected 6.8 scores, and the wide receiver room is littered with names who would only be a third or fourth option on a lot of teams. There's a very real possibility that Kincaid ascends into the top pass-catcher on the Bills, and has top-5 (or better) upside.

BUF TE Dalton Kincaid - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. New England Patriots
Dalton Kincaid has only one catch the last two games after going through a very successful fantasy run. He only has four total targets in those games and it seems the Bills have gone in a different direction as their offense has been better the last two games.

Kincaid faces the Patriots who are ranked 12th in aFPA to tight ends. He had his breakout game earlier this season against New England with six catches for 75 yards.

The last two games limit his ranking for Week 17. Keep Kincaid on the bench as he only ranks a TE2.

BUF TE Dalton Kincaid - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Los Angeles Chargers
After a good run, Dalton Kincaid was held without a catch last Sunday. However, the Bills only threw the ball 15 times and two of those targets were to him. We expect him to get back involved in the offense again. Kincaid has been limited in practice this week with a shoulder injury but should play.

The Chargers are ranked 27th in aFPA to tight ends so it's a good matchup for Kincaid. However, we only rank him as a high-end TE2 for Week 16 so be cautious if you start him as his numbers could be fairly low even if he does get back to his usual 5-6 targets.

BUF TE Dalton Kincaid - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Dallas Cowboys
Dalton Kincaid has had a minimum of five catches over the last seven games. He has been the steal of the draft for tight ends if you got him like most managers did in the late rounds. Last week, his numbers weren't great with five receptions for 23 yards.

The Cowboys are up next and they are ranked 26th in aFPA to tight ends so it's a good matchup. However, Kincaid is banged up and has been limited in practice this week. He is listed as questionable but is expected to play. Start him as a low-end TE1 for Week 15.

BUF TE Dalton Kincaid - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Kansas City Chiefs
Dalton Kincaid continues to be consistent, especially in PPR leagues. More important, he has the capability to put up a big game at any time. With Dawson Knox back in the lineup, there is little doubt the Bills will go back to a lot of two tight ends sets like earlier in the season. Still, Kincaid will be the main guy moving forward at tight end.

Kincaid faces an average Kansas City pass defense. Should be plenty of opportunities for the rookie. Start him as a solid TE1 for Week 14 in what should be a game with a lot of offense.

BUF TE Dalton Kincaid - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Philadelphia Eagles
Dalton Kincaid had six receptions for 46 yards as he continues his climb up the tight end rankings. He has become a big part of the Bills offense and their No. 2 target in the passing game, only behind Stefon Diggs. It has become obvious that QB Josh Allen has latched onto Kincaid as a safety blanket in the passing game.

Kincaid faces the Eagles who are ranked 17th in aFPA to tight ends. We expect him to keep trending upwards and be deeply involved in the offense for the rest of the season.

Start Kincaid as a top-five fantasy tight end for Week 12. He has been a consistent TE1 for a month now and that should be the case moving forward.

BUF TE Dalton Kincaid - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. New York Jets
Dalton Kincaid continued his hot play with five receptions for 51 yards and his second touchdown of the season. Since Dawson Knox was injured, Kincaid has become a consistent TE1.

Next up is the Jets and even though they have a very good pass defense, tight ends have had some success against them.

Start Kincaid as a top-five fantasy tight end for Week 11. The targets and production are there each week and that should be the case against the Jets on Sunday.
