Pederson: Eagles RB Jay Ajayi to be a 'workhorse'

Philadelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi is going to be the Eagles' "workhorse" in the backfield this season, Doug Pederson said following their opening night win over the Atlanta Falcons, albeit in a very 2018 kind of way.

Fantasy Impact: 

Ajayi had just three carries in the first half last Thursday night while Sproles saw a lot of work. But that flipped in the second half as Ajayi scored twice and had 62 yards. Apparently Ajayi was dealing with a foot issue. Ajayi emerged from the game healthy and Pederson said, "we'll see him more" and called him a "workhorse."

Ajayi was expected to play before returning to practice today, and with LeGarrette Blount now in Detroit, he should at least get a bulk of the early down work for the Eagles.

Doug Pederson said that RB Jay Ajayi will practice this week and be ready for the Falcons.

Fantasy Impact: 

Ajayi has been dealing with a lower body injury. He's expected to get a bulk of the carries, likely losing some to Clement as well as passing down work to both Clement and Sproles.

The Eagles’ offense got a huge boost Sunday when Nelson Agholor and Corey Clement returned to practice after lengthy injury absences.

Fantasy Impact: 

With Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) a question mark at WR for Week 1, Agholor could see a lot of targets should Jeffery miss time. Clement is expected to get some carries as well as continue to have a role in the passing game.
