Week 17 – Connor Shaw at Baltimore Ravens
Connor Shaw has a lot of bad history to overcome this week. First, Shaw becomes the latest starter at quarterback for the “new” Browns, and we all know that has been a churn and burn position. Secondly, Shaw comes from South Carolina, where he played under Steve Spurrier. While Spurrier is a legend at the college level, the history of Spurrier-coached quarterbacks (Shane Matthews, Danny Wuerffel, Jesse Palmer) at the pro level has been poor. Finally, the Baltimore defense has feasted on many young signal callers through the years. Browns fans would love to see something out of Shaw, especially in the wake of Johnny Manziel’s struggles, but few are expecting the undrafted free agent to be a diamond in the rough. While Shaw could be worth a gamble in a dynasty league, calling on Connor this weekend in any other format could be asking for trouble.
