Detroit Lions receiver Nate Burleson hasn’t ruled himself out of this weekend’s game at the Minnesota Vikings, but at least one of his teammates doesn’t expect him to play.

Return specialist Stefan Logan was asked today about possibly taking reps at receiver in case an injury strikes such as it did to Burleson in Sunday’s 35-32 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Burleson sprained his right ankle after catching a pass on the game’s first play, and the Lions had just two other receivers available: Calvin Johnson and Bryant Johnson.

“I don’t know what they’re going to put in the game plan this week,” Logan said. “We got one guy that went down. He’ll be down for about two, three weeks with a high ankle sprain, so we just got to step in and do the best we can as far as helping the team win and get our first victory.”

Burleson, who played three seasons with the Vikings, said today his ankle was “a little sore, but it’s not as bad as I thought it was on the field.”

So could he play this weekend?

“It’s possible,” Burleson said. “I don’t want to put my pride in the way and go out there and do something stupid and hurt the team. But definitely going to see how it feels, go out there and try to run on the field. The key with ankles is if I can cut, I can go out here and play, so that’s going to be the biggest test.”
