Scouting report

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Philadelphia Eagles

Brian Thomas is currently limited with the chest contusion he suffered in Week 8 against the Packers. Keep an eye on his status but if he can play, he's now the clear WR1, even more so than he was before now that Christian Kirk is out for the season. He's a top-15 option against the Eagles, who have had their moments getting beat but are getting better by the week.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Green Bay Packers

Brian Thomas reached 80 receiving yards in four of his seven games this season and scored his fourth touchdown of the season last week against the Patriots. Thomas is quite clearly the favorite target now for Trevor Lawrence and has worked his way into WR1 status heading into a nice matchup against a Packers defense that is in the middle of the pack against the pass and has allowed ten passing touchdowns.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. New England Patriots (in London)

Brian Thomas had a quiet day against the Bears, but Chicago is one of the better pass defenses in the league. New England is near the bottom in passing yards allowed per game, so this week is a good bounce-back opportunity for Thomas. Thomas remains a solid WR3/Flex option with upside this week.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Chicago Bears (in London)

The rookie continues to produce quite well. 122 yards and a touchdown for Brian Thomas in Week 5 as the Jaguars avoided an 0-5 start. He now faces one of the better secondaries in the NFL in Chicago, but the connection he has already formed with Trevor Lawrence is now hard to ignore. His floor is as a flex, but he now brings a good amount of upside.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Indianapolis Colts

It hasn't taken long for Brian Thomas to get accustomed to the NFL. He's leading the Jaguars entering Week 5 with 275 yards and two touchdowns. He's tied with Christian Kirk at 17 catches and is second to Kirk with 26 targets. The Colts present a favorable matchup, having allowed six passing touchdowns through four games. Jacksonville may be struggling overall, but Thomas is a bright spot and is worth a WR2/Flex spot.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Houston Texans

The rookie Brian Thomas has taken claim as the WR1 in Jacksonville early on, leading the team in receiving yards (189) and is tied for the lead in targets (17). That includes nine targets last week against the Bills. Of course, the game got ugly for the Jags very early. Still, it's nice to see Thomas already being trusted in the offense. But given the struggles overall on offense, it's hard to trust Thomas as anything more than a flex play against the Texans, through no fault of his own.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Buffalo Bills

So far, it’s the rookie Brian Thomas who has led the way in the passing game for the Jags. He has 141 receiving yards and the lone receiving touchdown. Only Gabe Davis has more targets through two games. Buffalo brings a strong secondary to the table so the rookie will be tested on Monday night. He should be viewed as flex given his targets but also the early struggles from Trevor Lawrence.
