ATL RB Brian Hill - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Falcons are out of the playoff picture but they were essentially out of the picture after a 1-7 start to their season. Monitor Week 17 news closely, but the Falcons are planning on playing their starters at the time of writing this blurb. It is unknown how long the starters will play but the starters could play the majority of the game if it stays competitive. This matchup has one of the highest over/unders (48) of the week.

Brian Hill was only in play when Devonta Freeman was out with an injury. Hill only played 19% of snaps last week against Jacksonville and is the clear back-up option this week against Tampa Bay. 4for4 rankings expert, John Paulsen, has Hill ranked as the half PPR RB53 and should not be in starting lineups.

ATL RB Brian Hill - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Brian Hill was only in play when Devonta Freeman was out with an injury. Hill played 15% of snaps last week against San Francisco and is the clear back-up option this week against Jacksonville. 4for4 rankings expert, John Paulsen, has Hill ranked as the half PPR RB51 and should not be in starting lineups.

ATL RB Brian Hill - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Carolina Panthers
In Week 13, Freeman played 67% of snaps and Brian Hill played 26%. The blueprint to beating the Panthers is through the running game. The Panthers are the worst defense against running backs, as shown by our signature schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed metric. He hasn’t scored a rushing touchdown all season and hasn’t scored a receiving touchdown since Week 6. 4for4 rankings expert, John Paulsen, has Hill ranked as the half PPR RB49.

ATL RB Brian Hill - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. New Orleans Saints
Hill has had two forgettable games as the starting running and is only a consideration if Devonta Freeman is ruled out. However, Freeman practiced in full on Tuesday and is currently on track to play. Even if Freeman is out, the Saints are the best defense in the entire league against running backs, as shown by our signature schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed metric.

ATL RB Brian Hill - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Hill led the Falcons’ backfield in snaps (39/65, 60%) but had a disappointing fantasy performance. He finished with 15 rushing attempts for 30 yards, one reception on three targets for eight yards, had a touchdown called back due to a holding penalty, and finished as the half PPR RB51.

The Tampa Bay defense is much better against the run than the pass. They are the best defense against running backs but dead last against wide receivers and quarterbacks, as shown by our signature schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed metric. Hill was a popular start last week against Carolina but has a much more difficult matchup this week. 4for4 rankings expert John Paulsen has Hill ranked as a high-end half PPR RB3. Hill can be started but the matchup does not look good on paper.

ATL RB Brian Hill - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Carolina Panthers
Devonta Freeman left the game against New Orleans with a foot sprain and could be out for two weeks, according to Ian Rapoport. Hill filled in for Freeman with twenty rushing attempts for 61 yards and one reception for 10 yards. Hill was a popular waiver wire add this week and is a good matchup this week.

Carolina's defense is a run funnel, which means their defense is susceptible to running backs. They are fourth-worst against running backs but tenth best against wide receivers, per our signature schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed metric. 4for4’s rankings expert John Paulsen has Hill ranked as a fringe half PPR RB1.

ATL RB Brian Hill - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at New Orleans Saints
The Falcons had a bye in Week 9.

Brian Hill will be the primary backup running back because Ito Smith is going to miss another game with a neck injury. Smith missed Week 8 but Hill was rarely used in Smith’s absence. Hill was out-snapped by Devonta Freeman 64 to 11 and out-touched 21 to 3. The Saints defense is second-best against running backs, per our signature schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed metric. 4for4’s rankings expert, John Paulsen, has Hill ranked as a low-end RB4. Better streaming options should be available on the waiver wire.
