Draft note
by John Paulsen
Other than Brock Bowers, Ben Sinnott is the most intriguing rookie tight end given his combination of college production (49-676-6), athleticism (77th percentile or higher in 40-yard speed, speed score, burst score, agility score, and catch radius), and potential role. The Commanders signed Zach Ertz, who could delay Sinnott’s ascension, but Logan Thomas is gone, so the TE1 job is up for grabs. Ertz is likely to begin the season as the starter, but Sinnott is versatile and Ertz has missed 17 games in the last two seasons.

Scouting report

WAS TE Ben Sinnott - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Ben Sinnott comes into the NFL on the back of a three-season run with Kansas State that saw him catch 82 balls for 1,138 yards with ten touchdowns, six of which he scored in 2023. Sinnott profiles more as a classic H-back than a standard tight end, but that could be a perfect fit on the team that more or less invented the position under Joe Gibbs in the 1980s.

Sinnott is not likely to be the 2024 version of Sam LaPorta (there won't be another Sam LaPorta), but he should be able to command playing time and opportunities in the passing game at the expense of the aging Zach Ertz. He may have weeks in which he holds significant streaming appeal at the tight end spot, but that does not make him a player that you NEED to draft in regular leagues.
