TEN WR A.J. Brown - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. San Francisco 49ers
A.J. Brown was designated to return from IR this week, meaning he could be set to return for Thursday's game against the 49ers. Fantasy managers will have to monitor the news out of Nashville to ensure Brown is actually healthy enough to play on Thursday, but he's worth a gamble as a flex play should he make it back as the Titans are desperate for playmakers in the passing game and Julio Jones is injured yet again. Even if he's eased in for health reasons, Brown would almost have to see a healthy amount of targets given the state of the Titans' offensive depth chart. The 49ers don't present an easy matchup for the Titans, but Brown's talent and projected role force him into the starting conversation whenever he's healthy enough to play.

TEN WR A.J. Brown - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at New England Patriots
A.J. Brown had a slow Week 11, in part due to him suffering a chest injury part way through the game. Brown finished with a 5-48-0 line on nine targets, and early reports have failed to reveal much detail about the extent of his injury. If Brown returns in Week 12, he is a must-start given his unquestioned alpha status in the current Tennessee offense, but it will be tough sledding facing a Patriots defense that always prioritizes taking away the opponent's top weapon under Bill Belichick. Keep an eye on updated reports regarding Brown's status throughout the week, but make sure to get him into lineups if he's active despite the tough matchup.

TEN WR A.J. Brown - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Houston Texans
It was a brutal performance for A.J. Brown in Week 10. He was constantly double-teamed and one of those defenders was typically Marshon Lattimore, leading to an extremely disappointing 1-16-0 line against the Saints. Brown will always deal with some inconsistency playing in Tennessee where they love to run the ball and will do so relentlessly in positive game scripts. Julio Jones's absence also looks to be hurting Brown as defenses are free to lock on to him with the Titans lacking other playmakers in the passing game. This week Brown will take on the 49ers, a team that ranks just within the top 10 of toughest fantasy matchups for WRs in adjusted fantasy points allowed. While the matchup isn't necessarily favorable, it is very unlikely Brown has another game as quiet as he did in Week 10. Keep the faith and start Brown again in Week 11.

TEN WR A.J. Brown - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. New Orleans Saints
A.J. Brown had been trending in all the right directions before a Week 9 performance that was tanked by an oddly positive game script. The Titans dominated the Rams last week and barely had to throw to do so, with Matthew Stafford giving the Titans short fields and a pick-six along the way. The result was a 5-42-0 line from Brown, his worst performance in weeks. That risk will still be there this week as the Titans take on a Saints team currently starting Trevor Siemian at QB, but the tough Saints defense will likely keep New Orleans competitive at the very least. Brown will likely get a healthy dose of Marshon Lattimore in this one. Lattimore is a good corner but not on the shutdown level where he affects an opposing receiver's fantasy outlook. Keep the faith in Brown's talent and roll him out as a borderline WR1 with Julio Jones again looking banged up.

TEN WR A.J. Brown - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Los Angeles Rams
It took A.J. Brown six weeks to get going, but it appears he is back to being an elite downfield receiver based on his last three games. Brown has registered 29 targets the past three weeks, turning that workload into 25 catches for 379 yards and two touchdowns. After dealing with injuries and illness early in the season, Brown is back to dominating corners in the air and after the catch, and the Titans will be forced to rely on him more than ever following the devastating injury to bellcow RB Derrick Henry. Julio Jones looks questionable for Week 9, and Brown would be poised to see a massive workload if Jones sits out again. The matchup against the Rams in Week 9 is a bit concerning as there is a good chance Brown sees a healthy dose of Jalen Ramsey in coverage, but Jones's presence will mitigate that matchup concern if he's active. Brown's recent play had elevated him back to WR1 status, but the tough matchup probably drops him into the WR2 category this week, but still clearly a fantasy starter in all leagues.

TEN WR A.J. Brown - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Indianapolis Colts
The buy-low window for A.J. Brown has slammed shut over the past two weeks following his recovery from a hamstring injury and apparent food poisoning. Brown has 18 targets over his past two games, and he's caught 15 of those for 224 yards and a touchdown. Brown has finally restored his downfield connection with Ryan Tannehill and continues to be the top target in Tennessee with Julio Jones constantly banged up. With the issues that plagued him early in the season apparently behind him, Brown looks poised to finish strong and continue his play from the past two weeks. Week 8 will bring a matchup against a Colts secondary that has been mediocre at best against receivers to this point in 2021 (ranked 21st in adjusted fantasy points allowed to WR). After a couple of weeks of strong play, Brown is back on the WR1/2 borderline for fantasy managers in Week 8.

TEN WR A.J. Brown - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
After being a late addition to the injury report with a stomach bug, A.J. Brown managed to play through it on Monday night, turning in a 7-91-0 line on nine targets. Brown led the team in targets and was finally able to connect with Ryan Tannehill on a couple of downfield throws after a disastrous start to the season. It's difficult to describe Brown as anything other than a massive bust at his ADP through the first six weeks, but last week provided some optimism that Brown is behind the issues that have plagued him thus far and could turn it around for a strong second half.

Week 7 would be a great spot to keep things going in the right direction, as Brown will match up with the porous Kansas City defense in a game that projects to be a high-scoring affair. The Titans will always be based on the running attack with Derrick Henry in the backfield, but Brown will be needed more than ever to move the ball through the air with Julio Jones injured yet again. Start Brown as a strong WR2 this week who could easily explode for WR1 numbers.
