Scouting report

PHI WR A.J. Brown - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Washington Commanders
After a frustrating game Week 3, A.J. Brown had season-highs in targets (15), receptions (9) and receiving yards (131). He didn't score a touchdown, but it was good to see Brown and QB Jalen Hurts on the same page.

Next up is the Commanders who are ranked 21st in aFPA to wide receivers. Brown had mixed results against Washington last season. He caught five passes for 85 yards and a TD in the first meeting. But was held to one catch for seven yards later in the season.

Brown definitely got his game going and we expect that to continue. Start him as a WR1 for Week 4. He should have 6-7 receptions and be over the 75 receiving yard mark.

PHI WR A.J. Brown - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It was a quiet game for A.J. Brown against the Vikings. After 10 targets in Week 1, he was down to seven targets which produced six receptions for 29 yards and a temper tantrum on the sidelines with QB Jalen Hurts. We don't expect that to affect anything, but file that away if Brown has more outings like that.

It's a great matchup for the Eagles passing game against the Buccaneers who are ranked 29th in aFPA to wide receivers. Expect double-digit targets and a bounce back to his normal form.

Start Brown as a solid WR1 for Week 3. The Eagles passing game should have a big day and Hurts will make an effort to get Brown involved early and often.

PHI WR A.J. Brown - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Minnesota Vikings
A.J. Brown is off to a decent start although the Eagles offense didn't really have their best game. Brown was targeted 10 times which produced 7 receptions for 79 yards. The targets are the important number here because they have been a constant for Brown over the last several seasons.

It should be a good matchup this week against a below-average Vikings defense. Brown had 8 catches for 69 yards last season versus Minnesota last season.

Start Brown as a top-5 fantasy wide receiver for Week 2. We expect the Philly offense to be better this week with a big advantage in the matchup and Brown will get those targets and turn them into good fantasy numbers.

PHI WR A.J. Brown - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at New England Patriots
A.J. Brown had career-highs in everything last season and there is no reason to think he can't do more. With the passing game progressing under Jalen Hurts, Brown remains his favorite target and he will be a top receiver each week.

The Eagles face the Patriots who have a decent defense that led the league in defensive touchdowns last season. Brown will be the target of New England's defense.

Start Brown as a solid WR1 for Week 1 in all leagues and formats. The reason he isn't ranked higher is because the Eagles have so many weapons and Brown won't necessarily be the best performer every week. He should have a minimum of five receptions and 70 receiving yards.

PHI WR A.J. Brown - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
A.J. Brown has found a home in Philadelphia and thrived last season. He was ranked eighth in wide receiver fantasy scoring in 2022 and had career-highs in every category. Jalen Hurts is entering his prime and Brown is his favorite target. The change of scenery definitely worked as he has become a great fantasy option and his numbers should be strong again.

Fantasy Downside
The biggest question is can Brown repeat those numbers. The gap from where he was in Tennessee to Philadelphia was a major jump and that might have been his ceiling.

2023 Bottom Line
Brown is still going to be the No. 1 in Philadelphia and a top-10 fantasy receiver. However, we see some slight regression in the receiving yardage and touchdowns. His ADP is the early second round and he can be your No. 1 if you take a running back in the first round or a stud No. 2 receiver on your roster if you want to go all-in on wide receivers in the early part of your draft.

PHI WR A.J. Brown - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. New Orleans Saints
A. J. Brown recorded his third 100+ receiving yard game in his past four and had six catches, too. He has been on fire over the past month and nobody has really been able to contain him. Even last week without Jalen Hurts, he was very productive.

Brown faces the Saints who are ranked eighth in aFPA to wide receivers. Even with the unfavorable matchup against New Orleans, Brown has been playing so well it doesn't even matter who the quarterback his.

Start Brown as a solid WR1 for Week 17. The Eagles No. 1 receiver is in a zone so ride with him until this streak ends.

PHI WR A.J. Brown - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Dallas Cowboys
A.J. Brown was the Eagles' offensive star last week as he was targeted a season-high 16 times in the win over Chicago. It produced nine receptions for 181 yards which was also a season-high for Brown. There are some questions this week about the Eagles because QB Jalen Hurts is out with a shoulder injury, but Brown should still be very relevant in Dallas.

The Cowboys are ranked 23rd in aFPA to wide receivers and looked vulnerable last week against Jacksonville. Brown had five catches for 67 yards and a touchdown in the first meeting with Dallas.

The Eagles should still have an efficient passing game with Gardner Minshew at quarterback. Start Brown as a solid WR1 for Week 16. We don't expect the numbers we saw last week, but good enough to warrant the ranking.
