The question posed to 12 veteran players this week: “If you had to pick one —and ONLY ONE — player who has impressed you the most during camp, who would it be and why?”

The winner: Ace Sanders, receiver and punt returner (5 votes)

Even the veterans who are casual college football watchers knew Denard Robinson because he played a high-profile position (quarterback) and made high-profile plays (touchdowns) for a high-profile program (Michigan).
But Sanders has been a revelation.

“Everybody’s saying Ace, right?” kicker Josh Scobee said.

Just about.

“He’s just a special talent,” linebacker Russell Allen said. “Obviously we haven’t played in a regular season game yet, but so far, he’s been fun to watch.”

Fantasy Impact:

Sanders is a player to monitor, especially early in the season with Justin Blackmon suspended for four games.

Jaguars rookie wide receiver Ace Sanders continues to make an impact for the Jaguars. He'll have a big role to start the season.

Fantasy Impact:

With Justin Blackmon suspended the first four games, Sanders has a chance to step in alongside Cecil Shorts and make a name for himself. The key will be the play of QB Blaine Gabbert, however.

Rookie receiver Ace Sanders is known for his game-breaking ability, but he showed some solid possession skills.

On the first series, Sanders caught a 7-yard pass from Blaine Gabbert on third-down-and-6 to keep the drive going. Sanders caught a 5-yard pass later in the series.

“Ace did a great job again,” Gabbert said. “He’s making plays. He’s a little guy that plays big. He had a couple great grabs early on. He’s getting better every day.”

Sanders has been one of the top surprises in camp so far. “He’s a really competitive young man,” Bradley said. “We’re just happy to have him.”
