Panthers OC Rob Chudzinski talked earlier this week about the team’s play selection on the final five plays against the Cardinals. Four of the five plays resulted in incompletions (one was nullified on a penalty) and the other was a short pass to Mike Goodson in which he was stopped short of the first down.

What was curious is that none of them went to Steve Smith, who was on fire with eight catches for 178 yards and two touchdowns.

“I think we had our chances and our shots at it,” Chudzinski said. “Steve Smith's obviously our primary thought on every pass that we have. Sometimes, coverage dictates that the ball is not going to go there. Certainly, he was our primary thought. We just didn't get the things and they maybe were trying to take him away and make somebody else beat us.”
