It's been hard not to be impressed by the production of rookie LeGarrette Blount in recent weeks, as the big running back has carried 75 times for 359 yards and four touchdowns in six games for Tampa Bay.

He might have been wearing a Titans uniform this season, but Tampa Bay plucked him off the waiver wire at the end of training camp. The Titans tried to slide the undrafted rookie onto their practice squad, but the plan failed.

Asked Wednesday if he had second thoughts about exposing Blount to waivers, Coach Jeff Fisher said: "Every day. I thought we could get him to the practice squad and then when and if there was any kind of interest, we could bring him back to the active roster, and that didn't happen.

"I'm very happy for him, very fond of the time I spent with him. I'm happy he's off to a great start … I'm not surprised about what he's doing on the field."

Checking out LJ: Speaking of big running backs, Fisher said he was impressed by former Pro Bowler Larry Johnson, who worked out for the Titans on Tuesday along with three other backs.

"That's just our 'ready list,' " Fisher said. "He had a great workout. He's in good shape. It was good to see him run … I think he can still play."

Asked about the possibility of adding a back to the roster this week, Fisher paused and said, "Not at this point."
