The Miami Dolphins' wildcat may have been declawed.

Versatile running back Ronnie Brown has been placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the season, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

He injured his foot in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay and was on crutches after the game. He had been ruled out for Thursday night's game at Carolina.

The Dolphins' leading rusher was to see a specialist for further evaluation, coach Tony Sparano said Tuesday.

Ricky Williams will replace Brown and start for the first time this season. He'll also replace Brown as the primary triggerman if the Dolphins run the wildcat formation.

"Who knows? May not even run it," a coy Sparano said. "Never know."
