Saints settle on Hartley as kicker

Just sent a story over to our news side on the Saints cutting kicker John Carney.

This is really not a big surprise because it seemed unlikely the Saints would carry two kickers on their postseason roster, even though they had been doing it all season. The release of the veteran Carney is confirmation the Saints are committed to Garrett Hartley, who has taken over the kicking duties in the last three games.

Just mere hours after signing Mecole Hardman, New York has moved on from speedster Elijah Moore, who they drafted in the second round of the 2021 draft. It clears the way for Hardman to be the Jets WR4 while Cleveland adds a much-needed offensive weapon at the cost of a pick-swap. It's an easy win for quarterback Deshaun Watson and the Browns offense.

Jets sign WR Mecole Hardman to one-year deal

The Jets have agreed to terms with Mecole Hardman on a one-year deal worth up to $6.5M.

Fantasy Impact:

Hardman brings a lot of speed and a gadget option but he's probably not seeing the field any more often than a rotational WR3. Assuming Aaron Rodgers ever signs a contract, Hardman could operate as a lite version of a late career Ranndall Cobb.

The Cowboys have agreed to a deal with RB Ronald Jones, who visited The Star Monday. Jones spent last year with KC after a four-year run with Tampa Bay.

Ronald Jones logged 40 snaps on a 2022 Chiefs team that was looking for a consistent answer at the running back position all year long. There is a very good chance that Jones is back in free agency by the time Summer comes along.
