Ryan Mathews suffers a concussion

Chargers running back Ryan Mathews suffered a concussion in Sunday’s game at Oakland, multiple media outlets reported.

Mathews left the game in the second quarter. He rushed three times for eight yards.

Fantasy Impact:

Danny Woodhead and Ronnie Brown are the only other Chargers tailbacks on the roster and neither is really a carry-the-load back. Mathews was averaging about 15 carries a game this season as Woodhead saw his touches increasing since Week 1. If Mathews were to miss time, the team could look to bring in another back. The Bolts play Week 6 at Indy on Monday night so Mathews will have more time to pass protocol, but we may not know his status ahead of time.
