Polamalu won't need surgery

All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu is wearing a brace on his left knee but he said today that he does not need surgery after getting hurt in the Steelers' 13-10 win over the Tennessee Titans last Thursday.

Polamalu sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee when Titans tight end Alge Crumpler fell on his leg while the two were going for a loose ball following a blocked field goal.

Polamalu is expected to miss three to six weeks but the injury could have been worse.
