Meachem says he's "a lot faster"

The buzz around Saints WR Robert Meachem has quieted considerably heading into his third NFL season. But if Thursday's practice was any indication, he might be ready to crank up the volume. Meachem emerged as the unexpected star of the first organized team activity that was open to the media this season, stealing some of the spotlight from the new-look defense.
With starting WRs Marques Colston and Lance Moore still nursing injuries, Meachem ran with the first team and made several impressive catches. Saints QB Drew Brees said he has noticed an increased confidence in Meachem this offseason. And Meachem said he does feel more confident than he's ever felt in New Orleans. But even more important, he said, is that his "explosion" is back. "I would say my legs are back under me. I've got my strength back, " said Meachem, who has been playing catch-up ever since he suffered a knee injury during the summer of his rookie season. "Everything just feels good. Everything is feeling smooth now, " Meachem said. "I didn't feel like I was the old me. So now the old me is back. I'm a lot faster."
