Adam Gase did the right thing by keeping LeVeon Bell in mothballs for the preseason, but there will be minor consequences to that decision. No matter how well Bell practices, he will have to work his way through rust and timing issues. Fortunately for the Jets, they have a terrific backup in Ty Montgomery, who can share the load until Le'Veon is Le'Veon.
There have been good things coming out of New York about Montgomery since OTAs, so this isn't really a surprise. The story said it's unrealistic to expect vintage Bell in Week 1 so owners may need to be patient for a few weeks.
