There’s a better-than-average chance that when the Ravens take a peek at the scoreboard during the second half of their contest with the Cincinnati Bengals Wednesday, the 11-4 Pittsburgh Steelers could have an insurmountable lead against the 5-10 Cleveland Browns.
Even if that’s the case, coach John Harbaugh reiterated his stance on Monday that he’s not likely to pull his starters from Sunday’s game.
“I hate to get into that because I don’t think you ever know,” he said Wednesday. “No, I won’t do that based on Pittsburgh’s score. We’ll just play it like we always play it, and we’ll try to win.”
Eleven-time Pro Bowl linebacker Ray Lewis said he didn’t think Harbaugh would do that nor would such a move pay dividends.
“I think that would be hard to do that because you wonder if you’re going to put somebody else at risk,” Lewis said. “We’re at a very sensitive stage in the season to where everybody’s nursing something, and if you take somebody out, then you’re just putting more pressure on somebody else. The easiest thing to do is just go in and play the game out as a full team. Finish the game and see what happens after that.”
