Outside the NovaCare Complex, there is a quarterback controversy blooming. Inside the complex, Kevin Kolb is clearly the Eagles' choice.
"That's now what's happening … Kevin Kolb is the No. 1 quarterback," coach Andy Reid said.
Kolb, however, did not "feel great" on Monday as he recovers from a concussion. It's unlikely he will play on Sunday. Ditto middle linebacker Stewart Bradley, who also suffered a concussion in the first half Sunday.
Reid continually defended the Eagles' decision to send both players back in the game before changing gears at halftime.
Now the Eagles must follow the NFL-imposed guidelines on players with concussion. Kolb and Bradley will get concussion tests at 24 hours, three days and five days after the injury until they pass. When they do pass the Eagles' test, they will be visit Dr. William Welch, an independent evaluator who will perform a neruological exam.
Kolb and Bradley did not pass the first test administered by team doctors on Monday. They were sent home from the practice facility afterward. That puts their status in serious doubt for Sunday in Detroit.
The status for both players does not look good for week 2, especially with all the controversy surrounding the team as both players returned to Sunday's games before leaving for good in the second half. The Eagles run defense will take a big hit without Bradley, while Michael Vick would be the starter against Detroit.
