Broncos keep Montee Ball, but he's their RB4

The status of running back Montee Ball generated the most talk going into deadline day for the Broncos. The former second-round pick was on the roster bubble, but was retained when the team announced its list of cuts Saturday.

"Hopefully, can continue to improve," general manager John Elway said. "He was in the top 53 in our minds, so that's why Montee's here and we still have high expectations for Montee."

Coach Gary Kubiak said he planned for Ball, who is listed as the fourth running back on the Broncos' depth chart, to continue to play special teams and it's up to the coaching staff to keep him involved.

Fantasy Impact:

Juwan Thompson is now ahead of Ball on the depth chart, along with Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson.
