8 Fantasy Football ADP Risers & Fallers After Preseason Week 1

In this piece, I’ll take a look at some of the biggest risers and fallers from the first week of the preseason, comparing their ADP from August 8th to August 15th, and how you should approach them moving forward.

The amount and variety of metrics used in fantasy sports grow on a daily basis as the industry continues to blossom. One of the most popular measurable ways to track player rankings and how each player is being perceived is by their Average Draft Position, or ADP.

As we move closer to the kickoff of redraft leagues, when the majority of your home, or friends and family drafts take place, analyzing MFL10 ADP from week-to-week during the preseason is helpful to gather an overall impression of where players are being drafted. Drafters of MFL10 best-ball leagues tend to be sharper than your average fantasy football participant, so you may find players will slip a bit further in some leagues than others.

In other words, ADP data is very useful but not everything, so don’t ride or die with it.

In this piece, I’ll take a look at some of the biggest risers and fallers from the first week of the preseason, comparing their ADP from August 8th to August 15th, and how you should approach them moving forward. A player’s ADP can change for a plethora of reasons, and diving into the cause of that movement can certainly help come draft time.

Darren McFadden, Cowboys (+59 overall ADP)

Here we have a situation where McFadden didn’t do anything on his own to warrant such a large rise in his ADP from 171 on August 8th to his current 112 ADP. The elevation comes as a result of Ezekiel Elliott’s six-game suspension due to off-field domestic violence charges. With McFadden as the projected starter for the first six weeks behind a solid offensive line in Dallas, grabbing him at his current ADP is a no-brainer.

If you decide to roll with Elliott, chances are you’ll be able to grab McFadden as well, without too much difficulty or compromising of your draft strategy. Elliott’s ADP is currently hovering in the second round (18).

Kenny Golladay, Lions (+37 overall ADP)

The darling of preseason Week 1, Golladay’s ADP shot up 37 spots from 188 to his current 13th round position of 151. Detroit’s rookie WR was already generating some buzz as one to watch this season, due to the departure of Anquan Boldin, leaving the No. 3 WR job and 20 red zone targets available for the taking. In his first NFL game, Golladay lit up the Colts backups, with three catches for 53 yards and 2 touchdowns.

His ADP could certainly continue to skyrocket as the hype train picks up steam, so getting him now in the 13th is still a decent value.
