2026 Fantasy Football IDP Rankings and Tiers Breakdown: Linebackers

The 2026 fantasy draft season is quickly approaching, so it's time to get our minds right, ducks in a row, and tiers in order. Rankings are helpful, but as you likely know, breaking those rankings out into tiers is essential for when you're on the clock. Tiers help you understand when to ignore a positional run and when to jump in.

Linebackers are extremely important in IDP, regardless of the format and scoring your league uses. The league-wide trend toward lighter personnel packages continued in 2025, and it's only accelerating. Sub-packages like dime and nickel are eating up more snaps than ever, which means the pool of true every-down linebackers keeps shrinking. Traditional 4-3 fronts with three linebackers are a relic at this point, even on early downs.

As noted in my 2026 IDP Primer, just a handful of linebackers played 90%+ of their team's snaps last season, and the number of linebackers topping 1,000 total snaps continues to trend downward year over year.

Whether it's offense or defense, nothing is more important in fantasy football than opportunities, and it's not hard to see that linebackers who rarely leave the field are extremely valuable.

Jack Campbell is the LB1 heading into 2026, and it's not particularly close. The third-year Lion went from camp breakout to First-Team All-Pro in the span of 12 months. He just signed a four-year, $81 million extension, and Dan Campbell has made it clear this is Jack's defense, and he'll play nearly every snap as long as he's healthy. He'll fill up the stat sheet again in 2026, and he's one of the few non-edge rushers who's worth a first-round pick in best ball drafts, and should be one of the first IDPs off the board.
