2026 Fantasy Football IDP Rankings and Tiers Breakdown: Defensive Linemen

In any IDP scoring format, the top-tier edge rushers are the most bankable commodity in the game. Regardless of whether it's a standard league or IDP, opportunity is the golden goose of all fantasy scoring. Still, I'd argue that skill, in this case, a player's ability to beat the player or players in front of them, matters more with defensive linemen than any other position in fantasy, outside of quarterback. That's why we see the top-tier edge rushers hold their year-to-year value more than any other position.

For example, if a bell-cow running back or all-world linebacker goes down with an injury, someone is likely available to provide 80-90% of that player's fantasy output, and in some cases, that replacement player is available on the waiver wire.

If Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper goes down with an injury, we know Isaiah McDuffie can step in and become a top 20 linebacker while Cooper is out. On the other hand, with Micah Parsons set to miss the start of the season at edge, there's no clear one-for-one replacement for Parsons' elite-level production. Sure, someone will go from a rotational player to playing starter-level snaps, but that alone won't propel them into a viable fantasy role.

Because of this, there's significantly less turnover among the best defensive linemen IDPs year to year than in any other position. The players in the tiers below possess an unmatched floor and upside, and you should make it a priority to leave your draft with as many top-tier pass rushers as possible.

Myles Garrett is the clear 1.01 in IDP regardless of the scoring format. The now-Los Angeles Ram is coming off of a historic 2025 campaign, and while I'm not projecting a repeat performance, I don't think he has a peer who's coming for his crown. At a team level, Garrett should see a spike in play volume and pass rush snaps, which is scary to think about. Opposing offenses averaged 59.7 plays per game against the Browns last season, passing on 53.2% of the snaps. Both of those marks were among the bottom third in the league. The Rams faced 64.1 plays per game and an opposing pass rate of 59.3%. Both of those marks were among the top 10. Garrett's surrounding cast is also significantly better in Los Angeles, which makes things a bit easier as well. I don't think we see 23 sacks again, but even with a massive dip in sack conversion rate year-over-year, I still have Garrett projected for a league-leading 16.5 sacks. Don't overthink it, even in your dynasty startups.
