NFL Spread and O/U Picks: Hunter's Week 9 Best Bets
Are underdogs dead in the NFL? They certainly were in Week 8, where there were only two underdogs that won (Jets in a wild 4th quarter comeback and Dolphins in an absolute stomping). Not only did they struggle in straight-up wins, underdogs also went 11-2 against the spread in Week 8. I wrote a few times last year that it felt like favorites were dominating across the board, but it appears that trend may stick around for a while longer. According to @ToddFuhrman on X, favorites are 156-58-1 straight up in the last 14 weeks of regular-season play. Good luck picking the lucky dogs on a week-to-week basis.
Week 8 recap: 4-1 for +6.8 units. It was a small week, but a good week. I should note that we got pretty lucky that the Ravens still covered -6.5, and it was nice having the Texans/49ers game stall out all of a sudden. But after the horrendous luck we got in 2024, I think we earned one week getting a little bit of help.
