When this Sunday night’s matchup was created and assigned to Sunday Night Football, few people would have been surprised to hear that one team would be sitting at .500 on the season and the other would be within striking distance of a home-field playoff game. The surprise would have been that the Chiefs are the former and the Texans are the latter. Each team is in put-up-or-shut-up mode, with the Texans needing a win to stay competitive in the AFC South and the Chiefs hanging on to their playoff hopes, needing a run down the stretch.
