Jake's DK Top Plays and Best Bets for the Rocket Classic

Every week on Wednesday afternoons, I’ll be posting a few of my favorite DraftKings plays in this article with brief write-ups of each player. I will also include some of my “best bets” for the week as well. I’ll use this space up top to recap the previous week and share any thoughts or takeaways I have going forward. I’ll include my top plays from the week prior, their DK Price, where they finished on the leaderboard, and how many DK points they scored. This article will be FREE every week, but with access to a 4for4 betting sub, you will get access to our discord and all of our bets (PGA + other sports).
Travelers Championship Recap:
Last week was awful. Xander had his worst tournament of the year. Hovland was having a solid tournament, and then he withdrew before R4. Bhatia’s dreadful ARG play continued and hampered his game big time. Clanton was the only golfer who came close to paying off their salary, and the only reason he didn’t was because of his inaccuracy OTT. In his few spot starts last season, Clanton was one of the best total drivers in the field week in and week out; this year, though, he’s lost some accuracy OTT, which hurt him at a course where accuracy is at a premium.
The other three golfers were just huge letdowns. Xander’s game has taken a massive step back; he’s lost accuracy OTT, his iron play is slightly down, and his short game has also taken a massive hit. For now, I am staying away from Xander. Hovland was leading the field in APP last week until he had to sadly WD; who knows what he could’ve done on Sunday? With a round 4, he could’ve easily finished Top 10. Lastly was Bhatia; Bhatia has struggled mightily with ARG, and at TPC River Highlands, where ARG play is key, it probably wasn’t the best idea to give him a whirl.

My Key Rabbit Hole Stats This Week:

- SG: OTT - Last 50 rounds; Driver heavy courses
- Driving Distance: Last 12 months; easy and average to gain OTT
- SG: App: Last 36 rounds in 2025

- BoB %: In 2025; very easy/easy/average scoring conditions
- SG: Putting - in 2025
Rocket Classic Championship DraftKings Top Plays (DK Price, Outright Odds, Model Rank)
Patrick Cantlay, $10.2k, 16/1 FD/DK, 1st in model
Key Stats:
- 7th in SG:APP (Last 36 Rounds)
- 1st in GIR % (Last 18 Months GIR Accuracy Easy)
- 1st in BoB % (in 2025 on Average/Easy/Very Easy Courses)
- 9th in Driving Distance (Last 12 Months Average/Easy/Very Easy to Gain OTT)
Cantlay’s 2025 season has been underwhelming for his sake, with only three Top 10s. Despite the blah season so far, Cantlay’s ball striking has remained one of the best on tour, only losing strokes in ball striking in one tournament all season; that one tournament was also the US Open, and if you know Cantlay, that makes perfect sense… He doesn’t exactly have much major success. Cantlay profiles as an ideal fit for Detroit GC, which is probably why his only start in 2022 resulted in a T2 finish. Cantlay is long OTT, has some of the best approach play on tour, and is historically a very good putter. Cantlay’s putting has been up and down this season, but overall, it is still above average.
Cameron Young, $9.3K, +25/1 FD/DK, 18th in model
Key Stats:
- 6th in Driving Distance (Last 12 Months Average/Easy/Very Easy to Gain OTT)
- 6th in SG TOT (Last 50 Rounds GIR Accuracy Easy)
- 3rd in SG:P (in 2025)
- 14th in BoB % (in 2025 on Average/Easy/Very Easy Courses)
As a rookie on tour in 2022, Cam Young was one of the best young ball strikers in the game; fast forward 3 years, and he’s a year-to-date negative on approach play. Despite the baffling decline in his approach play, he’s completely leveled up as a putter. Cam had always been a solid putter but lacked consistency; this year, Cam Young is one of the best putters every week. At Detroit GC, Cam can showcase his driving distance without being penalized, which he has taken advantage of in years past; in his two starts at Detroit GC, he has finished T2 and T6. Cam appears to have turned a corner with his approach play, gaining in four out of the last six tournaments. If Cam can continue this trend this week, I don’t see why he cannot contend. The three keys to success this week are hitting the ball far, draining putts, and giving yourself consistent birdie looks, which Cam should be able to do.
Davis Thompson, $8.1K, +35/1 FD/DK, 8th in model
Key Stats:
- 11th in SG:APP (Last 36 Rounds)
- 10th in GIR % (Last 18 Months GIR Accuracy Easy)
- 7th in SG TOT (Last 50 Rounds GIR Accuracy Easy)
- 14th in SG:BS (Last 36 Rounds)
There’s no way around that Davis Thompson is not a good putter, and while that is a major issue at a course where you have to go low to compete, the rest of Thompson’s game makes up for it. Thompson finished 3rd in T2G and 3rd in APP last week at TPC River Highlands, but 65th out of 67 qualifying golfers in putting. Thompson is one of the best young drivers of the ball, and he’s showcased that the past two years, specifically at Detroit GC, where he has gained 0.93 and 0.90 strokes OTT a round over the field the past two years. Thompson is consistently in perfect position OTT, which helps the rest of his game; if Thompson has just a little bit of positive regression putting this week, he can win this golf tournament.
Stephan Jaeger, $7.7K, 65/1 FD, 23rd in model
Key Stats:
- 18th in Driving Distance (Last 12 Months Average/Easy/Very Easy to Gain OTT)
- 6th in BoB % (in 2025 on Average/Easy/Very Easy Courses)
- 23rd in SG TOT (Last 50 Rounds GIR Accuracy Easy)
- 26th in SG:P (in 2025)
Jaeger’s golf game doesn’t hold up against the toughest tests of golf, such as major venues or more difficult-scoring golf courses. His game is built for a winning score of -20. Jaeger is way too inaccurate OTT to succeed at challenging courses, which is why in his last four tournaments, he’s finished 70th (PGA Championship), T39 (Memorial), MC (US Open), and T34 (Travelers). Jaeger has two top-10 finishes at Detroit GC in his four starts, and this is because he takes advantage of the fact that you can just bomb it OTT here. Jaeger is having the best putting season of his career after a disastrous season on the greens in 2024, so he completely flopped last summer. Jaeger has gained on APP in nine of the last ten tournaments, and if his great approach play can continue this week, combined with his newfound success on the greens, he should excel at this course as he has in the past.
