2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational Round 4 Betting and Showdown Picks

In the toughest conditions of any round played this year, it was a test of survival at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill. With the course playing 2.1 shots over par, Billy Horschel and Talor Gooch sit on top of the leaderboard heading into Sunday's final round. With winds gusting to over 20 MPH and the greens baked so firm that putts were seemingly gliding on ice, it was a mental grind for all involved. Pre-second round favorites Viktor Hovland and Rory McIlroy both struggled, shooting a combined 7-over par. Meanwhile, bigger names like Scottie Scheffler and Gary Woodland shot under par and have snuck into the top five. Sunday's final round appears almost identical to Saturday's weather forecast with winds consistently gusting from 15-20 MPH. With 26 of the last 27 winners at Bay Hill being in the top five heading into Sunday, it will be interesting to see if the tough conditions allow someone further back to make a charge at the lead.

TALOR GOOCH: It was a grind out there. The place was playing super, super difficult. The wind was whipping, and it was changing directions. When you have to be as precise as you have to be on this golf course, the little wind changes make a huge difference. So it was a grind. If you'd have told me I wasn't going to shoot over par and I didn't have to play, I would have taken it and not touched a club today. It's a grind, but I kind of think we don't get this enough on the PGA TOUR. So I think that's part of why we like it when we do get it. It's nice to not have a week of a birdie fest. And you've got to be playing your best golf to have a chance. You can't fake it at all. So it's a grind. It's a wear on you mentally.

BILLY HORSCHEL: We all knew the conditions were going to be tough today with the wind blowing. The greens are going to get very glassy, very frictionless. So you've just got to understand what a good golf shot is out there. This is awesome golf. It's testing and it wears you down, but this is the golf that I think—I can't even say we all enjoy all the time, but we do enjoy because it does reward fairly good golf shots on a regular basis. It rewards people who think their way through a shot and how it needs to be played to really turn out properly.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: The greens like—it's hard to putt on them because you don't know if there's going to be friction. There's so little grass, so sometimes there is and sometimes there isn't. With the wind the way it is, if you're putting even uphill putts, the wind is affecting them so much that it's so difficult to putt the greens.
