Connor Allen: 4 Week 5 Player Props I'm Betting

As the legalization of sports betting continues to explode, more and more people are diving into a new way of speculating on sports. For those just starting off, I broke down some of the basics in my gambling 101 piece. Among every category of bets, player props remain the most beatable in the long run. Last year, I hit 59% of my bets for +35 units on the season. The two years prior were much of the same, hitting 57% and 58%, respectively, of my player props for profitable seasons. I have improved every year and think that trend will continue with new tools. I’ve already fired off a handful of bets for Week 5 and will be adding more here. Week 4 Recap: Last week, I finally climbed out of the massive hole I dug for myself. Despite the positive week, there were still plenty of bad beats. Jaylen Waddle had three receptions in the first quarter and somehow wound up with just three in the entire game. Allen Robinson was sitting below his receiving number until late in the fourth quarter and hit it on one of the Bears' final pass attempts. The worst beat had to be on Sony Michel’s carries prop of 6.5 this Thursday. This is now the second bad beat on Thursday Night football in a row after Samaje Perine busted our under with Joe Mixon banged up on the last drive. This week, Sony Michel had seen zero snaps through a quarter and a half. When Henderson is active, Michel has hardly played this season. To be honest, I thought we had it in the bag. Then Darrell Henderson was shaking his arm on the sideline and holding it a bit funny. In came Michel and the announcers started mentioning Henderson looked banged up. It was at that point I knew we could be in trouble. With my face in my hands, I was full-on sweating. Sean McVay decided to channel his opposing coach on the sideline in Pete Carroll and fed Michel like he was vintage Marshawn Lynch. Michel racked up seven carries on that one drive, ending our chances at the under quickly. The tides turned nearly as fast as Oberyn Martell’s chances in his fight with Gregor Clegane. If you know, you know. Alright, enough griping. Onto Week 5.
