LAR WR Allen Robinson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Allen Robinson’s Week 1 dud has left a lot of people in the fantasy community in a frenzy. After being drafted in the fifth round in most leagues, Robinson laid a giant 1-12 receiving line egg in our starting lineups. We should have seen this poor performance coming vs. an elite Bills defense. Last season the Bills allowed the fewest fantasy points to outside WRs. Additionally, Robinson’s playing time usage was still elite. Robinson only ran two fewer routes than Kupp, and his 96% routes run to drop-back % was the third highest rate in the NFL.

This week the Rams will get a much softer matchup as they take on the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons allowed the 11th-most fantasy points to the outside in 2021. Last week Jarvis Landry and Michael Thomas were both able to finish inside the top 20 for wide receivers. This matchup should allow Robinson to bounce back right away making him a WR2 in Week 2.

LAR WR Allen Robinson - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Buffalo Bills

Coming off a disappointing year, many believe Allen Robinson is washed. Ignore that noise. Still an elite wide receiver, he is finally playing with a good quarterback. With Kupp potentially drawing the top coverage, Robinson may find himself in favorable matchups against the Bills. In a game projected to be a shootout, Robinson makes for a good flex play with WR2 upside.

LAR WR Allen Robinson - 2022 Fantasy Football Outlook

2022 Fantasy Upside
Fantasy drafters have waited eight years for Allen Robinson to play with an elite quarterback. The 28-year-old wideout finally has that chance with the Rams, and the potential exists for Robinson to have his best season since his 1,400-yard, 14 touchdown campaign in 2014. He brings elite size, burst, and a massive catch radius: great assets for Matthew Stafford to utilize in one of the NFL’s best offensive attacks. Now serving as the WR2 alongside Cooper Kupp, Robinson should have an even bigger mismatch against opposing defenses. His ADP has continued to rise throughout the summer in high-stakes fantasy leagues.

2022 Fantasy Downside
The presence of Kupp certainly limits Robinson’s upside, and fantasy drafters may be forgetting that with his fast-rising ADP. Robinson served as the alpha wide receiver in both Jacksonville and Chicago, how will he adjust to being the team’s WR2? It is also worth noting he is coming off his worst overall season of his career, tallying just 38 receptions, 410 receiving yards, and one touchdown in 12 games played.

2022 Bottom Line
There is certainly reason for optimism with Robinson on the Rams, and his talent has waited for an opportunity to play with a quarterback like Matthew Stafford. He is being drafted as a low-end WR2, on a team that has already shown it can support multiple Top-24 wideouts with Kupp and Robert Woods. His fantasy ceiling may be capped, but Robinson’s talent in this offense should reinforce a low-end WR2 floor.

CHI WR Allen Robinson - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. New York Giants

Allen Robinson has only played in one game since Week 9. At first, he was sidelined with a hamstring injury, and then he had to sit out while being on the COVID/Reserve list. He's since been activated from the COVID list, but Robinson said he lost 10 pounds and is "still trying to feel normal" earlier this week after returning to the team. As of now, it appears A-Rob will return to the lineup, although fantasy owners who drafted him may not have made it this far thanks to his forgetful season. Even when Robinson was healthy, he wasn't productive, averaging 3.2 receptions for 35.3 yards with one total touchdown in 10 games. Robinson is in WR5 range for Week 17.

CHI WR Allen Robinson - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 @ Green Bay Packers

Allen Robinson said Thursday he expects to play this week against the Packers. At this point in the season, Robinson owners might not even care that he's returning. Robinson has had an extremely disappointing season, averaging 3.3 receptions for 37.7 yards with one total touchdown all year. And this will be his first game back from a hamstring injury. He did have one of his better games this season against the Packers earlier in the year, posting a 4-53 stat line. But Robinson should really just be viewed as a low-end WR3 or WR4 in Week 14.

CHI WR Allen Robinson - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Baltimore Ravens

UPDATE: Allen Robinson has been ruled out for Week 11 so do not start him.

Allen Robinson finished with 68 yards in the Bears' last outing, which is a season-high for him. It's not too surprising considering Justin Fields also finished with a season-high of 291 pass yards. A-Rob's problem this season hasn't been his own play, it's been the Bears' lacking passing offense that's averaged around 170 pass yards per game under Justin Fields. Still, a 4-68-0 game from Robinson isn't even that great. It's been a disappointing year for the veteran who is averaging 3.3-37.7 per game with just one TD on the season. To make matters worse, he gets a tough matchup this week against the Ravens who have allowed the second-fewest receptions to receivers this year. Robinson should be viewed as a WR3 in Week 11.

CHI WR Allen Robinson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Pittsburgh Steelers

Unfortunately for fantasy owners, Allen Robinson did not get moved at the NFL trade deadline. So he's stuck in Chicago with a dead passing game, where the Bears are averaging just over 150 pass yards with Justin Fields starting. As Robinson owners are well aware, the veteran receiver has struggled to do much with Fields, averaging 3.0-35.3-0.0 in the rookie's starts. Perhaps even worse than the lack of production is the lack of targets. A-Rob averaged 9.4 targets last season and is averaging just 4.8 targets in Fields' starts. We have a hard time seeing this changing, leaving A-Rob to be a WR4 in Week 9 in a matchup vs. the Steelers.

CHI WR Allen Robinson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. San Francisco 49ers

The NFL trade deadline is almost near, and a deal to another team would be the best-case scenario for Allen Robinson at this point. He's struggled to get much going this year as Justin Fields has averaged less than 150 pass yards in his starts. Robinson hit a new low last week, finishing with a season-low 16 yards on two receptions. It's the third game this year Robinson's finished with just two catches in a game. He's setting career lows in receptions (3.3) and receiving yards (35.7) per game in a season. We don't anticipate things getting much better this week against the 49ers who are 16th in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to WRs. A-Rob should be viewed as a WR4 this week.

CHI WR Allen Robinson - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Allen Robinson saw seven targets last week, which is the second-most he's seen in a game so far this year. He also finished with his second-most receiving yards in a game this year, catching four passes for 53 yards. It's been a disappointing year for A-Rob who has struggled due to the Bears not throwing the ball enough for Robinson to make an impact. That could change this week in a favorable matchup against the Bucs who are 30th in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to wide receivers. Robinson has been disappointing so far, but he should be a solid WR2 play in Week 7 vs. Tampa Bay.

CHI WR Allen Robinson - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Green Bay Packers

It's been a brutal year for Allen Robinson managers, who at this point are desperately hoping for a trade to a team that will actually pass the ball. Robinson is doing the best he can, finishing 4-32 on five targets in Week 5. But it's hard to put up much production when Justin Fields is averaging less than 10 completions per game in his three starts. A-Rob has only topped 50 yards once this season, and has just one touchdown so far while averaging 3.4 receptions for 36.2 yards. He's only seen more than five targets twice, and one of those games came in Week 1 when Andy Dalton was starting. A-Rob gets a decent matchup this week, but we're more worried about his role than matchups at this point. He'll be a WR3 play in Week 6.
