Scouting report

HOU WR Nico Collins - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Buffalo Bills

Three 100-yard games already for Nico Collins and he has over 100 more yards than the next-closest. Collins also has three straight games with double-digit targets. He's become the clear WR1 for the Texans and that should continue against the Bills. Buffalo has been solid against the pass, but volume has been key for Collins. Start him with confidence,

HOU WR Nico Collins - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Through three weeks, the addition of Stefon Diggs has not hurt Nico Collins in any way. In fact, you can argue it's helped him. Collins leads the league with 338 receiving yards. He has seen ten targets in each of the last two games and he has five straight regular-season games with at least 80 receiving yards. The connection is strong between Collins and C.J. Stroud and that connection will continue Sunday against a Jaguars defense that is allowing the 4th-most expected points added per play (+0.11).

HOU WR Nico Collins - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Minnesota Vikings

Two weeks, two 100-yard games for Nico Collins to start 2024. Early on, he's the clear WR1 for C.J. Stroud as he leads in targets (18), receptions (14), and yards (252, which also leads the league). The Vikings allowed 110 receiving yards to Deebo Samuel last week, so there's a chance Collins starts 3/3 in 100-yard games.

HOU WR Nico Collins - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Chicago Bears

Perhaps we didn't have to worry about the addition of Stefon Diggs affecting Nico Collins- not that there ever was much of a worry. Collins was targeted eight times in Week 1 and racked up 117 receiving yards -- even with Diggs catching two touchdown passes. He had five 100-yard games last season and is already on track this season. A tough matchup awaits against Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson. Johnson was targeted twice last week against the Titans and did not allow a catch and had an interception. That said, Collins may still be peppered with targets and the connection between he and C.J. Stroud is too much to ignore. We still have Collins as a top-ten option this week.

HOU WR Nico Collins - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Nico Collins had his breakout season in Year 3, catching 80 passes for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns. He was rewarded with a contract extension this offseason worth $18.25 million per year. Collins had five games with over 100 yards receiving, including two where he was within ten yards of hitting 200. As quarterback C.J. Stroud continues to grow in his second season, Collins should only continue to be fed opportunities in this offense.

Fantasy Downside

The Texans have another mouth to feed in Stefon Diggs in addition to already having Tank Dell. But if anything, Diggs will take targets from the 75 Robert Woods had last season.

2024 Bottom Line

Collins should still be a solid WR2 in fantasy, even with the addition of Diggs. Stroud targeted Collins 109 times last season. There's no reason to think Stroud won't continue to look Collins' way. The addition of Diggs could even help as defenses have to respect all the options the Texans have. Collins is going in the third round of drafts.

HOU WR Nico Collins - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Tennessee Titans

Nico Collins was very quiet in Week 16 -- 4 catches for just 18 yards and a touchdown -- but the Browns have the No. 1 scoring defense in the NFL. The Titans do not. Collins also gets C.J. Stroud back and the two have been a dynamic connection this season. They can do some damage against this Titans secondary this week. Collins is very much in the WR1 conversation this week.

HOU WR Nico Collins - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Cleveland Browns

Nico Collins is working his way back from a calf injury suffered in Week 14. He did not play against the Titans in Week 15 but did return to practice this week, a sign he could be back for Week 16. Collins went over 100 yards in the games before getting injured against the Jets. Of course, that was with C.J. Stroud as his quarterback. It may be Case Keenum this week but Keenum is at least good enough to get the ball to Collins. He still makes for a fine Flex option.
