Scouting report

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Detroit Lions

Tyler Lockett had just 10 yards in Week 1, but the whole offense struggled in Week 1. Things should get better for Lockett and we know he usually produces strong results throughout the season. Lockett should be fine and should still be a Flex option this week against the Lions.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Los Angeles Rams

The receiver we love to overlook in fantasy begins his quest for yet another 1,000-yard season, which would be his fifth straight. And it starts against the Rams, who traded away Jalen Ramsey in the offseason. Seattle has a chance to really move the ball on the Rams and quarterback Geno Smith is going to look for Lockett. In Week 13 last season, Lockett caught 9 of his 12 targets for 128 yards and a touchdown. It's almost always a good bet that Lockett will find the end zone. He did so in both meetings with the Rams in 2022.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
When are we going to learn not to underrate Tyler Lockett? Last season, he was a forgotten man in fantasy drafts and he made many fantasy managers pay. He posted his fourth straight 1,000-yard season and found the end zone nine times. He has at least eight touchdowns in each of the last five seasons, the only such player to do so. He's somehow being undervalued again, going as WR33 in Underdog drafts. A wide receiver that has WR2 value being drafted as a low-end WR3? That's pretty good value.

Fantasy Downside
Lockett may not get as many targets this season -- he had 117 last year -- thanks to the addition of first-round rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba and DK Metcalf -- 141 targets in 2022 -- is also still around. At some point, maybe age will start playing a factor for Lockett, now that he is 30 years old. Maybe.

2023 Bottom Line
It continues to be easy to forget about Lockett in fantasy football, but it may be time to finally stop that habit. Lockett is almost a lock (pun intended) for 1,000 yards and a healthy number of touchdowns. He's just as fine of an option as Metcalf despite going three rounds and 18 receivers later.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. New York Jets

Tyler Lockett could return this week from a hand injury, but consider him a game-time decision for Week 17. Seattle is a 4:05 kickoff Sunday. If he does come back, he'll continue getting plenty of targets from Geno Smith and continue hauling in those targets, making him a good WR2, even in a tough matchup where he'll draw either Sauce Gardner or D.J. Reed of the Jets.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. San Francisco 49ers

Six straight. Tyler Lockett now has a touchdown in six straight games and is turning into a league-winner. At this point, he’s too hot to bail out now, especially in playoff time. Yes, it’s a short week and yes, it’s the 49ers. But the upside is there, the targets are there. By the way, in the first meeting with the 49ers, Lockett had 107 yards. Roll with the hot hand here.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Carolina Panthers

Week 13 marked Tyler Lockett's third game with 9 catches and also his third game with over 100 yards receiving. He has also scored now in five straight games and, with how Carolina has fared against opposing wide receivers this season, has a good chance to make it six in a row. Lockett is hot and you'll want to ride the hot hand as long as you can.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Los Angeles Rams

Sure enough, Tyler Lockett scored in his fourth straight game last week against the Raiders. It's not as much of a guarantee that he'll score against the Rams and make it five straight, but it's at least a good chance. Injuries have derailed the Rams, though Jalen Ramsey is still floating around. Still, with the way Geno Smith has been playing, and with him not having to worry about Aaron Donald this week, Lockett should still see opportunities again this week. He's a strong WR2 this week.
