Scouting report

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 – Travis Kelce at Pittsburgh Steelers
The good times continued for Travis Kelce in Week 15, as the young tight end finished with five receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown. In Week 14, Kelce had hauled in seven passes for 110 yards. Finally, the Chiefs have realized they have a nice weapon. Travis has blazed a trail towards the top of the rankings and is a no-brainer TE1 against a Pittsburgh defense that has given up 28 touchdown passes.

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 15, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 – Travis Kelce vs. Oakland Raiders

Finally, the world got another look at how things would be if Travis Kelce was featured regularly. That has not happened enough this year. Although Kelce had a costly yet controversial fumble in the fourth quarter, he also snagged seven passes for 110 yards. Hopefully Kansas City will continue feeding Kelce, as he is one of their few difference makers outside of Jamaal Charles. If that happens, Kelce is a lock to be a nice TE1.

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 – Travis Kelce at Arizona Cardinals
Travis Kelce was Kansas City’s leading receiver in Week 13, but it was not a banner week for the talented young tight end. His running mate at tight end, Anthony Fasano, stole a touchdown away and Kelce only produced three receptions for 36 yards. Of course, it doesn’t help Kelce’s cause when Jason Avant is targeted more. Until the Kansas City coaching staff figures it out, and it remains to be seen if they ever will, Kelce is limited to low-end TE1 value.

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 – Travis Kelce vs. Denver Broncos

Travis Kelce hauled in four passes for 67 yards in Week 12, but the large portion of the fantasy community that keeps hoping for big things for the youngster out of Cincinnati found themselves extremely frustrated when fellow tight end Anthony Fasano found the end zone instead of Kelce. Ultimately, Kelce remains a feast or famine player who stays among the TE1 crowd because of upside. Starting him could pay dividends if the Chiefs have to open things up to keep pace with Peyton Manning and company.

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 – Travis Kelce at Oakland Raiders
The curious nature of Kansas City’s passing game is not helping him, but Travis Kelce is on the verge of being classified as a disappointment in the wake of more misses than hits through ten games. Kelce was unable to get going on Sunday despite the absence of “vulture” Anthony Fasano, catching three passes for 37 yards. Nevertheless, we will cut him some slack since he was playing Seattle and Alex Smith threw for only 108 yards. And we will not hesitate to keep him listed as a TE1 in a nice matchup. However, he is on the spot this week, and owners are hoping for a touchdown.

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 – Travis Kelce vs. Seattle Seahawks
If anyone knows what the Kansas City coaching staff is thinking, please let us know. There is no reason why talented Travis Kelce should be getting just two targets in a game. There is also no reason why incompetent wide receivers A.J. Jenkins and Junior Hemingway should receive more targets than Travis. Unfortunately, both of those things happened last Sunday. And of course, Kansas City’s reliance on fellow tight end Anthony Fasano has also hindered Kelce’s progress. However, Fasano may not be able to play this weekend, which would give Travis a much-needed boost. Despite the weird philosophy of his coaches, Kelce still deserves TE1 status.

KC TE Travis Kelce - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 – Travis Kelce at Buffalo Bills
Where would the Chiefs be without Travis Kelce? After all, they possess what appears to be the worst group of wide receivers in the NFL, making Kelce’s contributions extremely critical. Travis caught four passes for 67 yards and a touchdown in Week 9. While his upside is generally capped because of Kansas City’s conservative approach, Kelce’s prime role keeps him in the TE1 zone, especially with six teams taking a siesta this week.
