The Chargers are saying goodbye to longtime kicker Nick Novak.

Novak was cut today, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

That means undrafted rookie Josh Lambo has won the kicking competition.

Fantasy Impact:

Lambo had a good college career at Texas A&M, and the Chargers liked what they saw of him in training camp and the preseason. Novak was 13th on our list so he had fringe K1 value depending on the size of your league.

The end of Nate Kaeding's nine-year run in San Diego has arrived. The Chargers kicker passed a team physical Tuesday morning and will be placed on waivers. If claimed, that team must pay the remainder of his 2012 contract.

Nate Kaeding will be placed on IR. Chargers are required to release him when he's healthy.

Fantasy Impact:

Although injury prone, Kaeding was 7-for-7 in 2-plus games this season for the Chargers, so someone is likely to take a chance on him. Nick Novak will continue to kick for the Chargers.
