DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Kansas City Chiefs
Jerry Jeudy's middling 2023 continued in Week 5 when he caught six-of-seven targets for 50 scoreless yards. The target numbers for Jeudy are encouraging coming off his hamstring injury suffered during the preseason, but he is not doing a ton with them as he ranks 41st amongst WRs at 1.76 yards per route run and has yet to score a touchdown on the season. Jeudy was projected to be the top pass catcher in Denver heading into the season, but that has not manifested with Courtland Sutton hogging most of the receiving production so far. Jeudy and the Broncos get the Chiefs this week, which should lead to additional passing volume, but the Chiefs have been hard on opposing passing games thus far, meaning Jeudy is only an unexciting flex play at the moment.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New York Jets
Jerry Jeudy's usage remained on track on Week 4 as he ran a route on 83% of drop backs, but he only caught three of five targets for 52 scoreless yards. While it's possible Jeudy is still being affected by his preseason hamstring issue, the emergence of Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims in the Denver passing game has put a real dent in Jeudy's claim to being the top pass catcher for Russell Wilson. Jeudy's 19% target share only ranks 42nd at the position through Week 4, and he's seen only one red zone target on the season. Now Denver welcomes Sauce Gardner and a formidable Jets defense to town this weekend. Jeudy should see more opportunity as the year goes on and he reaches full health, but he is tough to start in this matchup given how things have gone so far in 2023.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Chicago Bears
Jerry Jeudy looks to be returning to full health. His snap rate jumped from 67% in Week 2 to 76% in Week 3, and he earned seven targets. Jeudy caught five of his targets for 81 yards and saw 122 air yards. Jeudy should soon return to his position as Russell Wilson's top pass catcher with his hamstring injury behind him, and he gets a great matchup this week traveling to Chicago to take on the Bears' swiss cheese defense. The Broncos offense has improved from last year with Sean Payton running the show, but Denver has still be inconsistent on the offensive side of the ball. Jeudy's increasing health and playing time, combined with a good matchup, make him an interesting flex possibility in Week 4.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Miami Dolphins
Coming off a hamstring injury that caused him to miss Week 1, Jerry Jeudy returned to a 69% snap share in Week 2 but only saw five targets resulting in three catches for 25 scoreless yards. Jeudy's snap and target shares should increase as he regains full health, so better days are likely ahead. In Week 3, Jeudy and the Broncos will have to contend with a solid Miami pass defense on the road. Game script should favor more pass attempts for Russell Wilson, but efficiency through the air has been hard to come by so far this season in Denver. Jeudy is the most established and talented player in Denver's pass catching group, so a return to a full workload should thrust him into the WR2 range, but it would not be surprising to see him limited for another week which would be problematic for fantasy managers.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

2023 Fantasy Upside
Even in a disastrous offensive season for the Broncos, Jerry Jeudy managed to finish the season 12th amongst WRs in yards per route run at 2.18. Jeudy exceeded 100 receiving yards three times (he also reached 96 yards once), and showed real chemistry with Russell Wilson down the stretch of the 2022 campaign. One area Jeudy could see some positive regression this year is in the touchdown department. He managed to catch six scores last year, but three came in one game. Russell Wilson only threw 16 touchdowns all season, a number that will almost certainly increase this year under Sean Payton. If Jeudy continues to improve and Payton can revive Wilson as a passer, Jeudy has legitimate upside to score double-digit TDs this year. The rest of the Broncos' pass catchers aside from TE Greg Dulcich are aging or dealing with injury issues, meaning Jeudy should be locked into a large target share for an offense that projects to improve from last year's disaster. Jeudy's emergence late last year has him lined up to the the Broncos' top target in the passing game, and whoever comes in second in that hierarchy may be way behind him in terms of target share.

2023 Fantasy Downside
Jeudy is still catching passes from Wilson, who looked completely washed for about 75% of last season. Wilson's not getting any younger, and if his decline continues this year Jeudy will be one of the primary candidates to feel the effects of that drop-off. Jeudy still has yet to record a 1,000-yard season in the NFL, although some of that can be attributed to the QBs and offenses he has had to deal with. Investing in any member of the Broncos' offense is a bet on Sean Payton to restore the passing game to competency, but last year was so bad it is hard to blame anyone for being hesitant to dive in on any individual player, including Jeudy.

2023 Bottom Line
Jeudy will have to overcome the offensive woes that plagued Denver last year to return value at his ADP, but the arrival of Payton to call plays provides plenty of reason to be optimistic that significant improvement is a possibility in 2023. Jeudy remains an above-average talent and can operate out of the slot where he should get favorable matchups with Payton scheming things up. It's understandable to be skeptical about any Bronco skill player in fantasy, but Jeudy projects as a WR2 with plenty of room to build on his 67-972-6 line from last season.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Kansas City Chiefs
Jerry Jeudy has seen an uptick in target share in recent weeks with Courtland Sutton banged up. Jeudy has 27 targets over the last three games and has finished as a worthy fantasy starter in each of those performances, and that's with Sutton returning to a limited role this past week. It looks like Sutton is returning to full health, which does pose some concern for Jeudy's increased volume in recent weeks. That will likely be offset by an increase in his team's overall passing volume this week as the Broncos will attempt to keep pace with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Jeudy has shown at least flickers of life in recent games in what has been a disastrous season in Denver, meaning he ranks as a solid WR3 for Week 17.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Los Angeles Rams
After his three-touchdown explosion in Week 14, Jerry Jeudy predictably took a step back with Brett Rypien under center in Week 15 although he still managed seven catches for 76 yards on eight targets. It looks as though Russell Wilson will be back under center for the Broncos' Week 16 matchup against the Rams in LA. Wilson's return is great news for Jeudy, but he will be facing off with a Rams defense that is stronger in the secondary than it is against opposing running games. With Courtland Sutton projected to miss another game, Jeudy should see plenty of attention from the Rams' defensive scheme. Besides Week 14, Jeudy has finished no higher than the WR12 for the week in any other game this season. Even with a couple promising performances recently, Jeudy remains a risky flex option in what has been an abysmal offense outside of a couple games in 2022.
