Scouting report

by Chris Kucharski

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17: Amaro vs Dolphins
Jace Amaro had zero catches last week and was not on the field very much. He still is the best pass catching tight end on the Jets, but has almost no fantasy value, especially with Miami 2nd in aFPA to tight ends. Keep Amaro on the bench.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16: Amaro vs Patriots
Jace Amaro did play last week after missing two games with a concussion. He caught one pass for 20 yards, but only played 22 offensive snaps. He should be more involved in the offense and has a good matchup against the Patriots who are 30th in aFPA. Still the tight ends for the Jets have not been a big part of the offense so Amaro doesn't carry enough value into the game to warrant a fantasy start. Keep him on the bench for Week 16.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12: Amaro vs Bills
Jace Amaro had only two catches two weeks ago but one was for a touchdown. Amaro eventually could be major weapon for the Jets offense, but this year he still getting used to the NFL. The Jets will use him more as the season winds down, but until we see some consistent numbers, he is strictly a fantasy backup.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10: Amaro vs Steelers

After receiving some attention at tight end in recent weeks, Jace Amaro put up goose eggs last week in both catches and targets. Michael Vick relied more on his wide receivers against KC, but we don't think that's going to be the norm.

Amaro has a great matchup this week against the Steelers who are 27th in aFPA to tight ends. However, his overall numbers don't warrant a start. Keep him on the bench for Week 10 as rookie TEs are notoriously poor fantasy performers.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9: Amaro vs Chiefs
Jace Amaro is becoming a big part of the Jets offense, but the fact the Jets offense is in disarray limits his production. He played 54 snaps last week which is only 3 less than Jeff Cumberland who is the Jets blocking tight end.

Amaro has a tough matchup against the Chiefs who are 9th in aFPA to tight ends. Amaro has a bright future but not such a good outlook this week or this season. The Jets need to figure out what they are doing before he will be a consistent producer. Amaro is a TE2 option this week. His usage is tough to predict week-to-week.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8: Smith vs Bills
After his best game in Week 6, Jace Amaro came back down to earth last week with five targets and three catches. The Jets seem to be using all three tight ends in the offense and even though Amaro is the most gifted, he is low on the totem pole for offensive weapons for New York. The Buffalo defense also has an advantage ranked 10th in aFPA to tight ends. Keep him on the bench as a low-end TE2.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7: Amaro vs. Patriots
Look out New York! Here comes Jace Amaro. For at least one week, Geno Smith found a new favorite target, throwing his way 12 times for 10 receptions and his first career touchdown. It might be a one-time thing, but this is the reason they drafted Amaro so it might be his time.

Amaro still had less snaps than starter Jeff Cumberland but closed the gap. No doubt the Jets will get him in more. For Week 7, Amaro faces the Patriots who are 21st in aFPA to tight ends, so it is a decent matchup. However, we want to see more from Amaro to elevate him to a meaningful status. Keep him on the bench against New England as a solid TE2.
