Scouting report

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6: Amaro vs. Broncos
Jace Amaro has been getting some touches, but not enough to give him attention as a fantasy option. The New York offense has also struggled so that plays into all of Jets' fantasy value.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5: Amaro vs. Chargers
Jeff Cumberland is still getting twice as many snaps as Jace Amaro for blocking purposes and until that changes, Amaro's fantasy value is very low, although his increasing usage is a positive sign. For now he's only a deep TE2 prospect at best.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4: Amaro vs Lions
Jace Amaro had his best game as a pro although most of his 54 yards came on a 43-yard reception. What we saw on Monday was the fact the Jets went to Amaro in certain situations, but his snap total is still way behind Jeff Cumberland.

It appears in passing situations, they will look Amaro's way so his value is up. But not enough to make him fantasy relevant yet. Keep him on the bench, but he might be a waiver wire guy looking towards the second half of the season.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3: Amaro vs Bears
Rookie Jace Amaro is still being coddled in the Jets offense as the veterans Jeff Cumberland is still getting a vast majority of the snaps. When Amaro starts closing the gap, we might see him have some fantasy value.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2: Amaro vs Packers
The Jets did target rookie tight end Jace Amaro four times, but he wasn't on the field very much as Jeff Cumberland got twice as many snaps. Keep an eye on Amaro, but he is not fantasy starter just yet or really even a bench player.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1: Amaro vs Raiders
The Jets will ease Jace Amaro into the role of the No. 1 tight end on the team. If you have deep roster, you might be able to hold him for later in the season, but most likely his fantasy impact will come in his second year.

NYJ TE Jace Amaro - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Jace Amaro has potential and talent. And he should get the opportunity to show it right away. The other tight ends on the roster are not as good as Amaro. They are more experienced which might affect Amaro's playing time early, but he will be the man sooner rather than later.

Fantasy Downside
It's always hard to judge rookies. Opportunity is the first part of the equation followed by execution and results. But even if Amaro gets the opportunity, how much will be be involved in the offense?

Bottom Line
Amaro might end up being the starter, but he probably will have limited numbers just because of the Jets offense situation. He has a bright future, but probably not a bright 2014 from a fantasy standpoint. Amaro is not getting drafted in most leagues and he shouldn't until we see his role and see him perform.
